Do you have any evidence that 1) people are using Lime bikes as opposed to walking to get from point to point and 2) the concern of the Dutch government you point out? Or are these your ‘observations ’. Either way, you bizarrely seem to raise point 1 in a number of posts. Even if Lime bikes replaced existing walking journeys how is this a bad thing? People can get to places quicker, it’s still active, generates economic growth, people may feel safer at night on one vs walking.

https://www.the-londoner.co.uk/we-r-blighty-fake-charity/ ‘We R Blighty’ are asking for donations outside M&S. just be aware they are not a registered charity… can we get them moved on?

Usage and storage are different things though? They should be taxed/subsidised in line with the externalities which they cause. There are almost no negative externalities with walking/cycling hence these shouldn’t be taxed. It’s widely known current car tax is below the externalities which cars cause (pollution, noise, accidents etc). Anyway, as a resident of the street most of my neighbours are in support and hopefully we here some positive news soon!

Remind me again why you think you should be allowed to store your private property, for free, on public land?

Has anyone heard any more on this / next steps?

What cities are getting rid of them? I saw in the FT usage is up 100% year on year so they’re not going away - London just needs to adapt like Paris has (centralised docking, get rid of parking spaces etc)

That sounds positive, the more dedicated places to park them the better. FYI they are already speed limited by law to 25kph

Thank you. E-bikes are a fantastic way for older people to continue to be able to cycle. Just look at their success on the continent to prove this. I fully appreciate that they can be left inappropriately which causes problems for lots of people in society. This is why we should support dedicated parking bays? They’re not exactly going to go away and we should encourage their use in the design of our built environment.

I’m an active user, I also commute regularly on Limes from East Dulwich (25 mins door to door as opposed to 45 minutes if I were to take the train). It’s a game changer for me and I can’t see myself stop using them (even in this weather). My view is that if we want to go down the bay route - we should have one on every single street and the council should be working with the providers to facilitate this asap. You can fit something like 20 in the space usually taken up by a Dulwich Volvo XC90. Our streets are littered with cars. I find it baffling how the opponents of e-bikes don’t apply the same cynicism to just how much space cars take up now.
