  1. It really is! But what are we doing about it? The more people sign petitions, write to MPs, council, councillors etc the better!
  2. It’s terrible isn’t it. But it’s so hard to know what to do! I have signed petitions, written to our MP, and complained to Southwark - it doesn’t seem to do anything. My cat is hating it and I am so worried for all our local wildlife. Maybe there’s more that can be done if the community joins together on the issue? Maybe so - but they didn’t even want to talk to me about it. Said it was only for the police and hung up. Really shocking and very frustrating considering how much I hand them in service charges and council tax each month!
  3. Some terrible ones up near the ED estate this evening. I had reported two lots of misuse to the council but was told last week “it’s not for them to deal with” it’s only for the police. I asked them why they had a fireworks misuse button on their website if it’s nothing to do with them - he couldn’t give me an answer. The Met aren’t gonna give two figs about local issues like this but I will try and go through the SN team.
  4. It was indeed in the vicinity of DKH. I live on the ED estate and I could tell it must be close by because of the noise. When I left my house this morning I found the culprits litter still in the middle of the st. It looked like they had lit a whole box on fire in the middle of the road. My cat jumped out of her skin. I’ll try and report it on Southwark website same as I have had to with other illegal use this week. Any other ideas for what we can do with the photos? Maybe one of the Southwark councillors. It’s outrageous and dangerous behaviour.
  5. There’s a couple of Gov petitions going on in relation to fireworks at the moment but this one is for banning them entirely except organised displays if anyone wants to sign. This is the only sensible way forward in my view. No one should be able to let them off in gardens or anywhere like that, it’s crazy. I am surprised some of you have said it hasn’t been as bad this year. I live near DKH Saino and it’s been absolutely terrible my way for days. This petition gained about 20,000 just in the last day or so so clearly the appetite is there! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/732559
  6. Not miserable at all! I feel the same and also want to complain to the council but not sure who or where best to aim it at? I have flagged it with our local MP and one Southwark councillor previously but only verbally when discussing other things and didn’t get anywhere other than them agreeing it was very frustrating etc. but would love to do something on paper. I think they’ve been pretty much every night for the last couple of weeks and my cat is hating it! As am I !
  7. Fireworks in this area do feel totally incessant at this time of year, almost every evening there is terrible noise. I feel great concern for wildlife, pets (I have a senior cat who hates them), as well as people who struggle with PTSD etc. Last year I even had people setting them off in front of my home. Tonight and yesterday evening have been particularly bad. Is there anything we can do as a community to prevent this? What action can we take? Surely we shouldn’t be expected to just put up with it every year for weeks on end!
