  1. It’s the impact the festival has on the community, the people living next door to the park who have to endure the thumping music and worse. Then there’s the park and the state it’s left in and the wildlife, especially nesting birds. All the roads going down Denmark Hill towards the park were closed off and roads off half moon lane and going up towards West Norwood closed off with wardens at each end, who were paid by Lambeth Council to stand there for the 4 days. The festival made the news channels and interviews suggested most of the people attending weren’t fron the local area but places like Ireland and Scotland. I live a 20 minute walk from the park and could hear the thumping music all day and night. Also the wind certainly carried the smell of drugs to my garden! For 4 days I couldn’t believe how strong it was.
  2. Shame. I wondered why they were asking for donations to help with running costs in last weeks issue. Been buying it for many years but only recently was thinking of giving it a miss as over the past couple of years it had become too politicised. Their South London Opinion page was particularly biased.
  3. And some may disagree with Earl’s comment that the council made some ‘fairly timid changes to road layout and some nice landscaping’ in the Village 😟
  4. Yes I think it has. I drove by this afternoon and there was a very large M&S delivery lorry parked right outside making deliveries. Traffic was backed up because of the widening of the road just before there which was closed off anyway because of the LTNs that were brought in a few years ago. Also noticed some parking spaces have been taken away because of road widening outside near the cherry tree pub place? Why? All very unnecessary but that’s Southwark Labour’s plan to kill off car drivers.
