Are you passionate about inclusive music making and supporting adults with learning disabilities to express themselves creatively? Do you enjoy bringing people together through rhythm, sound and shared experiences? Stepping Stones Learning and Leisure is a small and welcoming Southwark charity that supports adults with learning disabilities to live connected, confident and fulfilling lives. We offer creative, social and practical sessions throughout the week. Music plays an important role in promoting positive wellbeing, and helps people build confidence, try new things, and feel part of a community. We are looking for a friendly and engaging Music Facilitator to lead our weekly music sessions. You will encourage participants to explore a range of instruments, express themselves and enjoy the experience of making music together. Our groups include adults with a wide range of learning disabilities so sessions must be accessible, adaptable and delivered with flexibility and patience. About the Role As our Freelance Music Facilitator, you will plan and deliver inclusive sessions that may include: exploring different instruments rhythm and percussion activities creative music making group interaction and confidence building simple performance or sharing moments You will also complete required paperwork including Individual Learning Plans, course outlines, schemes of work and track progress across each term. Stepping Stones is a small, local charity based in Southwark, supporting adults with learning disabilities to live more connected, creative and fulfilling lives. We believe that everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, valued, and able to express themselves, and that community, creativity, and consistency are key to making that possible. Each week, we run a range of inclusive activities, including music, dance, art, gardening, drama and digital skills. Our sessions offer a fun, safe, welcoming environment where adults with learning disabilities can build friendships, grow in confidence, explore their creativity and feel a true sense of belonging. Many of our learners face social isolation, anxiety, or barriers to taking part in mainstream services. Stepping Stones provides a vital bridge of a consistent community space where people are encouraged, included, and celebrated. We’re looking for a friendly, organised and proactive person to join us as our new Activities and Volunteer Coordinator. This is a hands-on, people-focused role. You’ll be the go-to person for keeping our weekly sessions running smoothly, supporting facilitators, welcoming learners, managing session admin and planning community events like our summer show and Christmas party. You’ll also take the lead on developing our volunteer programme by recruiting, inducting and supporting the amazing people who give their time to help make Stepping Stones such a special place. You’ll be supported by our Charity Manager and work closely with a small, passionate team who care deeply about inclusion, wellbeing and creativity. We’re currently looking for a Drama Volunteer to support our weekly drama group on Friday afternoons, held at St Faith’s Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ (close to North Dulwich and Herne Hill stations). About the Role This role is ideal for someone with a background or strong interest in drama, theatre or performance. You’ll support our Drama Tutor to deliver inclusive and engaging drama sessions for a small group of adults with learning disabilities. Each year, the group works towards a production which is performed at our end-of-year Summer Show, making this a fun, creative, and rewarding volunteering opportunity. A calm, flexible approach helps maintain a relaxed and safe environment for our sessions to run. Ready to get stuck in! Many sessions involve art, music or movement. Join us and help support a small charity working with adults with learning disabilities We are looking for new trustees to join our purpose driven and welcoming Board of Trustees in our work to enhance the lives of adults with learning disabilities through music, art, dance, drama, cooking and gardening. This is an exciting time to join us, with opportunities to contribute and to help shape our future. If you are thoughtful and energetic and want to help make a difference, please apply. We welcome those who have no experience of being a trustee and will provide induction and support. Commitment and enthusiasm is more important. We want a Board that reflects our community. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our established small charity focussed on improving the lives of local adults with learning disabilities. The Charity Manager will be at the heart of the organisation and will lead a small team of qualified tutors and volunteers in continuing to provide high quality experiences for the people who attend. Stepping Stones is a community that loves to socialise and learn new skills together. Our current programme includes art, dance, drama and music, together with digital skills and cooking. This role is responsible for strategic development with the guidance of the Board of Trustees, fundraising, and the management of all aspects of service delivery. It is our intention to appoint a new post of Activity Co-ordinator to support the Charity Manager as budgets allow. You will play an active part in designing this role so that it enhances our delivery and increases capacity within the organisation. ABOUT THE CHARITY Stepping Stones is a thriving, longstanding and highly valued community organisation. We have delivered activities in Southwark for over 30 years and our weekly classes are an important part of the lives of people who attend. Our main delivery is a timetable of weekly classes from our base at St Faiths Community Centre. We also have activities off site including gardening at the Stuart Road Allotments in Nunhead, and music and art classes at a local day centre and residential home. Each week over 100 people benefit from our activities. ABOUT YOU You will build good working relationships with all stakeholders including the people who attend our classes, their network of support (including support workers, carers and family members), funders, partners and the local community. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, you will be comfortable working with autonomy. You will be a strong team leader, proactive problem solver, and confident making decisions for the good of the organisation. Whilst the role demands strategic thinking and planning, it also requires you to be visible and accessible. You will sometimes contribute to activities when time allows, for example, in pilot phases of new classes DETAILS ABOUT THE ROLE Being together in real life is an essential element of our offer to the people who attend Stepping Stones and this post requires a physical presence preferably 3 days per week during the term time period when classes are running. We are open in our approach to recruitment and are keen to support the right candidate to flourish. This means that we are happy to consider flexible working hours and an annualised hours contract if this supports your work life balance.
