  1. Hi All, ‘Experimenting with Drawing’ will return to The Thomas Calton Centre in Peckham (just off Rye Lane) from next week! There is one class each week, and two options to take the course this term - either on Mondays 12-3pm or Wednesdays 6-9pm. Here is a link to enrol: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/schools-and-education/adult-learning-0/creative-skills/art/art-timetable Please do share it if you know anyone who might be interested! Both versions of the course run for 10 weeks, from the 22nd and 24th of September until the 1st and 3rd of December (11 weeks including one week of half term break). Everyone is welcome; there is no prerequisite to have experience with art or drawing! The course is aimed at those who are looking to dedicate time each week to working creatively, with peer and tutor support, and classes structured to try something new each week! Each class is made up of a 30 minute art history lecture, and then working in response to one or two exercises/ briefs, connected to the theme of the lecture. All materials are provided. We will look at subjects such as: Line Collage Drawing and Bookmaking Ink Drawing and text Rethinking the still life Action drawing and manifestos Pattern Conceptual approaches to drawing With a focus on visual, material and idea based perspectives on drawing, we will experiment in a friendly and thoughtful creative environment, and seek to overcome the fear of getting things ‘wrong’. Any questions, please email: [email protected] Or contact the reception team at the Thomas Calton Centre on: 02073582100 The concessionary rate is available to those on universal credit.
