  1. Hi,

We were planning on taking our Cockapoo away with us to center Parcs over the Easter weekend but have since read how un dog friendly they are, so now feel it's fairer on her if we don't bring her along.

Could anyone recommend a good home boarder in SE22 or nearby who can give Winnie lots of cuddles and the odd walk!

    Many thanks

  2. Just to let you know that if you witnessed our 5 month old puppy sprinting out of Peckham Rye park today around midday, she's safe, but my nerves are wrecked. She ran all the way home (crossing Forest Hill road on her way!!) and was waiting for me on our doorstep. The noise of a tractor starting up completely spooked her. Thanks everyone who tried to help, she was like a rocket so impossible to catch.
  3. Recommendation for Lee - he's helped with numerous plumbing issues we've had over the last year, always answers my SOS texts and calls, and manages to visit and fix very quickly. Offers good rates and a very reliable service, so grateful to have finally found a good plumber! His number is 07881 277385.
  4. I called Lee today based on these recommendations for an emergency in our flat - a leak from the kitchen causing water to come through the bedroom ceiling! He made time in his schedule to come out and assess, he quickly identified the problem and fixed it, v happy and will definitely be using again.
  5. Wanted to share my recent experience working with PJ Installation Services for the renovation of our family bathroom.

PJ had renovated my neighbours bathroom last year and we were really impressed with the work, since working on our neighbours house and the good reviews he's received the business has grown and he now has a team working for him. We had Kevin who single handily took our old bathroom back to bare brick, and did all the necessary plumbing, carpentry, electrics and decoration to produce an amazing new bathroom. We're thrilled with the results and both Kevin and PJ were very professional and easy to work with, even when i made a last minute change, they were happy to accommodate.

I'll be using PJ for any future projects and would whole heartedly recommend him and his team.

  6. Hi Debbie

Congrats on your place! My son started at Harris last year and he is thriving. It's a safe and nurturing environment with a real sense of pride amongst the kids about their new school. Due to its size it's felt more like a village school, and has really helped in the transition from nursery to 'big' school. In terms of the head, she's great. She comes with a lot of experience and a strong vision for the school to excel. She is at the gate most mornings and knows each of the children's names, she's an accessible and approachable head. The permanent site is on track for next September. The temporary site was actually my main concern accepting the place last year but it has worked out really well! It's position opposite the park has been great for post school gatherings etc.

Feel free to PM me with any questions

  7. I have just read this entire thread and I cannot believe that the mother who must have been traumatised beyond belief, is now bearing the blame for the closure of this nursery. It is their fault, period. I'm sure that some of the staff are kind and nurturing, but their role is to keep your children safe, and they failed, hence the closure. Arranging child care is a pain and very time consuming, but a missing child, come on......that is every parents nightmare??
  8. Does anyone know if the 'distance offered' for community schools include sibling places or is it just those applicants who are prioritised on distance? The distance for Goodrich has increased since last year, and we are well within those ranges yet our family and others in very close proximity didn't get it.....making me think those distances must include siblings??
  9. Hi all,

Hoping to revive these threads from previous years and to get parents views of how their children are developing at the school and how as a family the experience is? Especially interested to hear from non faith families as we fall within this 'category' (technically I'm C of E and went to a faith school but my church going days have lapsed somewhat!)

Had a sleepless night googling the topic, as one does, various mumsnet threads claim that Catholic schools have a strong sense of family and community so in that respect sounds great, on the other hand others are voicing more negative views, that if your not catholic, don't bother you won't fit in?

I'm more open minded to this school that I thought I would be (although still holding out for my 1st choice on the waiting list!) but would love to hear from parents who were/are in a similar position to us.

    Thanks in advance

  10. Having not received any of our 6 (which I find unbelievable, but anyway) I emailed admissions and they were very helpful and prompt and told me my place on each waiting list. I'm hopeful that between now and September we can secure our place in one of our chosen schools. If not we'll be embracing Catholicism at St Francesca Cabrini...
  11. Sorry to read this Annabel,

We've been coming since you opened and we love it! Great space and toys for kids to play with, and big enough so I could sit with all of my other Mummy friends and have a catch up over coffee, great! Also, found it one of the better groups for having 2 kids, especially when no2 was a baby, can easily find somewhere to feed whilst keeping an eye on on the other tearing around. It's not free but I make yours my only paid for playgroup, as like others have said there are lots of free groups around so I feel it all balances out.

I also had no1's birthday party there and was fab!

I'm a supporter and would be very sad if your had to close, good luck and hope things turn around in the NY

  12. Hi Minimac,

I had the exact same feelings that you did and kept changing my mind up until 36 weeks. I would say that you have to go with what you feel most comfortable with, there is no right or wrong answer. For me I did a lot of research and had a good understanding of what went wrong with my first labour, which helped put things into perspective. No 2 pregnancies or labours are the same, even from the same mother! In the end I had a very good VBAC, continuously monitored (I was glad of this) lots of gas and air, and I must say a fabulous midwife who had total faith that I could do it. That said I have friends who opted for an elective c section and we're equally happy with how things went.

Essentially it's a very personal decision, go with your gut instinct, tends to always be the right one. Best of luck!

  13. Hi all, my son is starting Goodrich nursery school in September, being a complete novice at all of this had no idea of dispatch times on uniform ordered online, thought with a few weeks to go I had bags of time....eek, says it could arrive after his start date (14th) Hoping that it'll make it before then, but if not would a plain navy jumper be ok whilst I wait for the logo'd jumper/tshirt to come through??

    Thanks in advance, slightly panicked!!
