hello, we are keen to meet with a local family or families, who have girls of a similar age to ours - 7 and 3 years - who have fragile x (the most common inherited genetic condition - but little known - which can cause extreme anxiety and shyness in girls). We are starting the process of telling our eldest daughter why she feels socially anxious and how it effects her everyday life (particularly at school). Although they are both relatively sociable little girls, happily at school and nursery respectively, we would like them to meet other girls with the condition, so they get a better understanding of their frustrations, feelings, genetic habits and traits, which the condition carries. It would also be interesting to talk to other parents, with girls, who might have the same schooling dilemmas, we are facing.
