  1. Good afternoon,

I live on Wood Vale, just near the Horniman museum, off Lordship Lane. I am looking for a regular cleaner with good references, ideally twice a week, though once a week at first would be ok, for a minimum of three hours (this is a family home, not a flat).

I ideally would like our cleaner to wear a mask while in our house.

If you think you may be interested, or can make a recommendation, please do contact me.

    Many thanks

    Sarah

  2. Hi there

Does anybody know of anywhere local where my boys could ride a hoverboard legally please?

My 9 yr old is desperate for one for xmas, but just not sure where he could ride it, or if it's even a god idea at his age.

    Any thoughts welcomed!

    Thank you

    Sarah

  3. Hi there

We are looking for a carpet fitter for a small job. It's to refit our landing carpet around the new staircase that has gone in as part of a loft conversion. Basically, the carpet was already down on the landing, it has been taken up for the work, and when it goes back down it will need shaping around the staircase. It will probably be a couple of weeks before it can be relaid.

    Many thanks,

    Sarah

  4. Hi everyone,

We are looking to draw up a shortlist of brilliant local carpenters able to do the following:

    - Bespoke wardrobes in our loft bedroom, into the slopes

    - Landing cupboards x 2

    - Potentially one other small cupboard

    - Potentially hang a new bathroom door

Could you recommend the carpenter that you used on similar projects?

If you're a carpenter, we are looking for local tradesmen who have their own websites / photo portfolio of work and can provide genuine testimonials from previous satisfied customers.

    Many thanks.

  5. Hi there

We need to empty our loft into our living room, to make way for a loft extension. There's nothing majorly heavy - just the usual domestic stuff, and there isn't loads of it. Probably a morning's work, helping us to do it. Would suit older teenagers or students, if any of you have any hanging about the house! Would pay ?10 an hour.

    Many thanks,

    Sarah

  6. Hi everyone,

I'd be very grateful for any honest feedback you can share about two loft companies - Selcom and Taylored Lofts. We have met with both and have quotes for a loft conversion. We'd love to hear about how they are to work with - were they reliable, was the work of a good quality, are they especially good at anything, or disappointing in any way?

From experience of doing out kitchen extension, we know that feedback from previous clients is so important, and we're reluctant to use only testimonials provided by the companies, for the obvious reason.

    Thank you in advance!

  7. Hi all,

Can anybody recommend any genuinely good apps for 4-7yrs boys? There are so many out there, and so much rubbish, I feel overwhelmed. I'm hoping to find, by recommendation, some that really do successfully combine learning and fun, that aren't full of add=on purchases, for kids interested in construction, patterns, maths, football, music, creative arts. And obviously action adventure heroes etc.

    Many thanks indeed!

  8. Hi all

Our amazing cleaner is leaving to have a baby and we are looking for a new cleaner for at least six months. It's 3 hours per week. We currently pay ?9 per hour.

We would like to follow up on references in advance of any hire.

    Thanks all.

  9. hi everyone,

We're throwing a party for about 60 people later this year, and would love to know if anyone could recommend a caterer. We're open to all types of food - from fish & chips to fine dining. we know about Suzanne James (who has been extremely helpful), but would like to gather together some more ideas.

There is nothing like a personal recommendation when it comes to food, so if you've hired a great caterer, or been to an event that's had fantastic food, please let us know!

    Many thanks everyone.

  10. Hi all,

CAn anyone recommend a handyman to put together ikea flatpacks for us please?

It will be a Nordli chest of drawers (seven drawer) and a large Kallax shelving system with the door fronts and drawer inserts.

Hiring somebody will depend on whether rates are affordable. Otherwise we'll be finding a babysitter and getting the screwdrivers out!

    Many thanks,

    Sarah

  11. Hello forum friends. I'm on a hunt for a reasonably priced blow-dry. Hair-do prices have gone crazy in ED, and I just can't believe that the ?20 blow-dry, or better still the less-than-?20 blow dry, doesn't exist. Often the best hairdressers are the less fancy ones, on the less fancy streets, and I wonder if anyone knows of anywhere that could do a really simple blow dry of shoulder-length straight-ish hair.

I'm probably sharing too much now, but I'll tell you why I want to find one. My mum, who's now in her 70s, and lives in Cheshire, has had a blow-dry once a week since she was in her twenties, she pays between ?12-?15 for it, it takes 20-30 minutes and it leaves her feeling on top of the world. It's been her one luxury. I'm 42 with two two tiny children, and I could just do with a boost to the old self-esteem. I'm feeling very dowdy and run-down. If I could have someone wash my hair and blow dry it nicely once a week or once a fortnight, I reckon it would give me a bit of a boost. It just looks crappy when i do it myself. But there's no way I could afford a ?40 blow-dry, as most seem to be.

MAybe someone knows of somewhere in Forest Hill, Sydenham, Peckham, Crystal Palace, the back streets of East Dulwich, or even a local mobile hairdresser? It doesn't have to be at all high fashion or glamorous, because it's such a simple style. Or maybe I'm being totally unrealistic??

    Thanks everyone.
