  1. We are hoping to get our Vietnamese Coffee shop at 155 Bellenden rd open soon - still being delayed by solicitors at the moment. We have been a great success this summer at Hackney's Broadway Market where we do our regular Saturday Saigon Street Cafe, so are looking forward to regular trading in Bellenden, when we will open London's first genuine Vietnamese coffee shop ! Look forward to seeing you eventually http://www.caphevn.co.uk
  2. We are still waiting to get the lease signed for the VIETNAMESE COFFEE SHOP at Bellenden RD. Over 4 months now with the slack solicitors. Hope to be open in November now?? please check our website http://www.caphevn.co.uk for developments. As we have said on previous posts we will have a opening party to which all ED bloggers are very welcome so see you there eventually!
  3. OOH that was a bit strong......I wish them much luck in their venture :)-D
  4. wee quinnie thanks for your enthusiasm, we will certainly have vego even vegan stuff. We are not going to be a restaurant, but offer light foods to accompany & compliment our Viet drinks. We intend to keep it simple and to keep a small but changing range of foods to avoid stagnation/boredom!! We have a great resource of Vietnamese ladies here in SE London who make some really fantastic real Vietnamese foods/dishes that are virtually impossible to reproduce without a lifetime of culinary experience & expertise. We hope to bring some of it to you...
  5. Wait till the Vietnamese Coffee Shop is open in Bellenden Rd.....we will kill them with our super coffee & fantastic teas!! http://[email protected]
  6. Update on the Cafe, or Ca Phe I should say!! still haven't got the contract drawn up so we can move in & start getting the place in order, hopefully in the next couple of weeks. other points - yes a lot of Viets here are of Chinese origin - hence the food, but there is also the commercial imperative noone here 30 years ago was going to buy oriental food other than sweet & sour, Chow mein , black bean sauce etc. For money they cook erstatz chinky, but don't eat it at home - we will be child/yummy mummy friendly and offer non chilli food. -SE15 & Hackney have the largest Viet communities in the UK for over 30 years ( long before the yuppies!) - WEASEL POO COFFEE- 99.9 % of this is an expensive rip off - we don't do it! We will have an opening party when we ever get open ....hope to see all the bloggers there will update website... http://www.caphevn.co.uk
  7. Alan]# I think you are supposed to stir it! if you don't stir it well the milk will sit at the bottom, some places in vietnam will mix it for you, obviously it looks funky with the black coffee on top - reverse Guinness effect!
  8. Ca phe sua da or cafe sua da (Vietnamese: c? ph? sữa ??) is a unique Vietnamese coffee recipe. Literally, ca phe sua da means "iced milk coffee". Ca phe sua da can be made simply by mixing black coffee (typically a dark French roast, often with chicory) with about a quarter to a half as much sweetened condensed milk and then pouring it over ice. The coffee is traditionally brewed with a small drip filter into a cup containing the condensed milk. The condensed milk and coffee are stirred together and then poured over the ice. Ca phe sua nong (Vietnamese: c? ph? sữa n?ng) - literally, "hot milk coffee" - is made by excluding the ice.
