  1. We need some help moving some boxes and items down from the loft and up from the cellar. Nothing stupidly heavily but my husband has recently had a back op so is unable to do it and it's a bit beyond my strength. Ideally we'd like someone to come next Saturday 15th for three hours. Please PM me if interested and let me know your rate.

    Thanks.

  2. We've just had our hallway and ceilings painted by Terry and were once again impressed with his work. We got a few quotes and his was the best by far and the work has been finished to a good standard. He started the work almost immediately too. We've used him previously to paint the front of the house and were happy with that too. Would recommend him highly. His number is 07958 707115.
  3. Calling all freelance writers, designers, photographers, illustrators, PR, marketeers . . .

I am a book editor and publishing consultant, working from home in East Dulwich and I am interested in meeting any locals who, like me, enjoy being their own boss but miss the buzz and community of belonging to an organisation. Perhaps you miss the stimulus of working alongside others with the opportunity for collaboration and those all-important chance encounters?

If you think you?d benefit from:

a stronger division between work and home life

a dedicated workspace outside of your own home, but in your local area

being part of a useful, informal creative community

    IT support on the spot

access to a meeting room space

    good coffee . . . !

. . . . then I?d love to talk to you about how we might build an informal community in East Dulwich. For example, what would you look for in a shared workspace? What are your professional frustrations and opportunities? To talk about how we might make our working lives more productive, creative and enjoyable, please come and join me either for a coffee at 11am in Tierra Verde or a drink in the East Dulwich Tavern at 6.30pm on Tuesday 27th January. RSVPs appreciated. And feel free to drop me a line with any questions.

I look forward to seeing you!

  4. Hello

We have a rat/s behind our kitchen cabinets and have had the same issue a couple of times before so rather than simply putting rat poison down we really want to address the cause of the problem. A private pest control agency has laid bait and is suggesting they do a CCTV survey of the drains as a broken drain is the most likely route into the house. We are now trying to locate our manhole cover and have been going round in circles with Thames Water and the council who don't seem to have a map of the area. Has anyone managed to get hold of a drain map from the council before?

Secondly, has anyone ever had this CCTV service? Is it going to help or just be a massive waste of money? I'm getting a bit desperate as I have a young child and keep reading about all the diseases the rats carry.

Thanks v much for any advice.

    Jane

  5. Hello

I suspect we have rats underneath our floorboards. I have had Rentokil out in the past and have found them to be pretty useless (just laying poison rather than investigating where the rats might be coming in from). Has anyone had any success with another company?

    Any recommendations gratefully received.

    Jane
