numbers - yes they did (do?) sell Little Bird Gin at Franklins. It was launched as Sparrow Gin and then changed its name a while later. Quite citrusy with orange & grapefruit.

I like Brockley Market too Annette, particularly Mike & Ollie. Tried the tacos from Ambriento on North Cross this weekend - messy to eat but really good. Hot dogs from Dog Father Diner are perfect for hangovers on a Saturday morning too.

Recently tried the pizzas from Van Dough, not quite Pizza Pilgrims, but good base & toppings.

Loved the Roti Chai Chaat Shack that's on the Southbank until the end of the month.

Locally based OFM (original fry up material) serve breakfasts, but not managed to catch up with them anywhere yet. They're at Kerb King's Cross.

To echo charliecharlie's post, we also had an excellent meal at Anderson & Co on Saturday evening. The chips were excellent. It was a soft launch for their evening openings which I presume will be starting soon.

El Phibe - If it's the Domain du Cros Marcillac you like, then I think Manish at Good Taste Food in Crystal Palace sells it. You can also order directly from Les Caves de Pyrene in Guildford (delivery can be pricy unless you are looking for a large order).

We bought our house through Roy Brooks a few years ago and they were, by a very long way, the best estate agents we dealt with during our year long search. Open, honest and approachable. If we were ever to sell they would definitely be our first choice regardless of their advertising - their work speaks for itself.

As someone else has said, we all have our own preferences and favourites. Plus places can have 'off days' or go off the boil which may deter people from visiting again and our tastes can change. Here are a few I like at the moment:

Best breakfasts in ED: Homemade and Blue Brick Cafe (but have never tried any of the pubs for breakfast)

Best breakfasts nearby: Anderson & Co (Bellenden Road, Peckham), Cafe Viva (Peckham) and many many others

Best coffee in ED: Homemade, Franklins Farmshop

Best coffee nearby: Bambuni (Nunhead), The Dish & The Spoon (Nunhead), Anderson & Co (Bellenden Road), Cafe Viva (Peckham), Arloe & Moe (Crofton Park), Browns (Brockley)

Best cake: A tricky one, but we've had some good cake at Anderson & Co, Arloe & Moe, The Dish & The Spoon and Homemade.

Any hidden gems in ED: Il Mirto for pizza, Viet Van Man (North Cross Road Market) for banh mi, Dogfather Diner (North Cross Road Market) for pimped hot dogs (including a cracking veggie dog), Franklins (especially for their set weekday lunch menu which changes daily and is good value - a personal favourite)

Any hidden gems nearby: Too many to list, but some current favourites are The Gowlett for pizza, The Begging Bowl for Thai, The Dish & The Spoon for fantastic cafe food (and very child friendly), lots of places in Brixton Village, No 67 (South London Gallery)...the list goes on and depends on what you class as nearby!

I've probably forgotten lots...

I understand from Dulwich OnView that each library was allocated 200 tickets and could hand out up to 4 tickets per person, so they were bound to go quickly. There are some libraries which weren't open today and will therefore hand out their allocation tomorrow, of which Grove Vale Library is one I believe.

All of the tickets at Dulwich Library had gone by 9am when my son's childminder turned up after the school run.

RenF - I am sure they are still accepting usual donations of food too. They are making an exception for these hampers and accepting freshly homebaked goods from the Band of Bakers too, so hopefully each hamper will have a Christmas cake, mince pies or festive biscuits.

Peckham Foodbank are planning a special Christmas Hampers Day this week when they will give their clients all of the necessary ingredients for them and their families to have a typical Christmas dinner, which they might not otherwise be able to afford. We have already done a great deal of our Christmas shopping locally. Alistair at Rye Books has a great selection of books and other gifts and gave great advice on books about Father Christmas for our toddler. So far we've also bought sparkling wine from Green & Blue, toys and stocking fillers rom Just William, spices and food gifts from SMBS and Persepolis, kilner jars to fill with home baked treats and preserved lemons from Farmers, baby clothes from the stall on North Cross Road Market... Trying to be organised, but will probably still be seen scurrying up Lordship Lane for last minute bits and pieces just before Christmas!

Rue Blaes - that's where the Christmas shop used to be! It has an entrance on 2 roads, the other one must be rue Haute. Thanks civilservant for reminding me...

Oh and you need to eat frites. Some people rave about Antoine on Place Jourdan, but I don't ever recall having them there. I used to get them on Place Saint Josse but I just did a quick search and it seems like the guy who used to sell them there has retired so not sure what it's like now.

Are you going in the run up to Christmas PeckhamRose? If so, I'd recommend a wander around Grand Sablon, especially in the evening when all the pretty lights are lit. There used to be carol singing and live music in the run up to Christmas so you may be able to find litsings for that. There's also a massive Christmas shop up that way which links between 2 roads I can't remember the names of for the life of me...all the decorations you could wish for! I'll take a look at the map and see if I can remember.

For Sunday brunch I always loved Le Perroquet in Sablon - a cosy (OK, maybe quite cramped!) welcoming room, a menu of pittas as long as your arm and a Westmalle Triple eased many a Sunday morning hangover... Whilst you're up there treat yourself to some chocs from Pierre Marcolini.

I second malumbu's recommendation for La Morte Subite if you like beers. It's a traditional Belgian bar with fantastic brusque waiters, amazing beer and traditional bar snacks of cheese and meats. I have spent way too much time there.

For 'cultural' stuff, I quite liked the Centre Belge de la bande Dessinee (http://www.comicscenter.net/en/home) and long walks around the city, taking in the Palais de Justice, Sablon, etc (all interspersed with frequent beer pitstops).

It's a few years since I was last there so I'm not sure which restaurants are good these days...

I agree with Otta that it's important to raise awareness - so few people know about SADS. I only do because my sister was a teacher at Oliver's school.

Alex left Homemade over the summer to cook for the Gingerline events. Chris still runs Homemade and was there when I went in today.

Apparently Sparrow Gin was a name they used for a limited period for a limited run of bottles and their real name was always going to be Little Bird Gin. That's what they said on twitter.

Since writing the post I've found out that it isn't distilled in Peckham as I (and others) were led to believe. It is in fact distilled in Clapham, but Little Bird's HQ is in Peckham. I've amended my post to avoid any confusion...

Lovely meal there last night. Some dishes better than others and some could have done with a little more spice (although appreciate that wouldn't suit everyone) but over all an enjoyable meal.

Particularly liked the betal leaf with palm sugar, peanuts & pomelo, the salad of deep fried salmon with sour fruits, squid with chives & ginger, Chinese broccoli & garlic, grilled gilt head bream and the tofu with snake beans & cashews.

Good beer & wine lists.

I'd definitely go again for the food, but I'm not a big fab of queueing for a table.

Yes, it's where the pizza place was. We're going this evening - really looking forward to it!
