ahhh, carry on ingesting your ethanol fix. and turn the much beloved english public house into a private members health club. at least the community has managed to strong arm most of the local pubs into striking foie gras. mines a pint of san pellegrino please. inside though, I'd love to enjoy dusk but there's smokers out there. and they're ruining our lives... -

READ well i read the paragraph and i think you must be taking the mick. what makes you think patio heaters are installed to keep smokers warm? oh yeah, the daily mail says so. how many were sold before the smoking ban? come to think of it you must be right, because since the smoking ban every pub in the area has installed patio heaters. there's so many that come to my mind. -

Show yourselves and give us the chance to fight back. In the Palmerston, in Franklins... not in Le Chardon though cos it's crap.

Advice please. Is a loft conversion a no-brainer?
granadaland replied to giggirl's topic in The Lounge
My experience being structural engineer is that loft conversions don't add much more to the value of your house than what it cost you to do the 'extension'. you will have a 5 bedroom house with the living space of a 3 bedroom house. It's generally an improvement for personal reasons, making the most of what you have. but that may appeal to somebody. loft conversion bedrooms, cold in winter, boiling in summer. just my opinion though, not sure of the market. -

Bike accident - witnesses needed!
granadaland replied to DipDap's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Agree with computedshorty. Drivers should check their blind spots. But they also have to look at the road ahead for dangers. that turning is an immediate left after the goose green roundabout, about 10 ft. If one demands that the driver check their blind spot for cyclists, negotiate the left turn off the roundabout, check for pedestrians at the crossing, check for pedestrians crossing the road they are about to turn into, check their blind spot again...then that person is not a safe cyclist in my view. one can't tailgate a car, sit on their inside rear wheel then try and undertake next to a left turn. Us cyclists need to take some responsibility for due care and attention as well. -

How can we improve our community

What's your budget? If it's ?200 definitely try and get something second hand. If you're planning on using it often you will regret wasting that money on something from Halfords. It wont be a pleasure to ride. Go to Edwardes cycles in Camberwell or Re-cycled. (avoid ebay) Try something with a hub gear if you want low maintenance and few gears, or single speed. If your bugets more, go to Evans and try a few out for a test ride and see what you like. You can get some good deals in the sale. bike Or buy my Ridgeback Genesis Day 02 of me......!
