  1. Recommendation for Gary and his team. I?d echo what other posters have said about attention to detail, constant communication on what was happening, friendliness of all the members of the team we had in the house for different jobs and how clean they leave everything.

We had three quite different jobs done and are very happy with the quality and finish of all:

    - set of bespoke painted bi-fold doors for an odd shaped opening between our living room and dining room

    - complete ripping out of understairs and previous hall way cupboards replaced by bespoke cupboard system

    - installation of new water line for a plumbed in fridge which involved running a channel under existing lino

The finish on all 3 jobs is lovely and Gary is perhaps even more eagle eyed than we were for tiny snags which he remedied.

Will be using him for future jobs.

  2. Hi

Just wanted to recommend carpenter and builder Lenny Hamilton. I found Lenny through another recommendation on the forum when looking for someone to replace our downstairs floor (taking up our existing laminate flooring, fitting a joist network to a solid floor and fitting floorboards). Lenny and his colleague Craig did a fantastic job for us and, in addition to the quality of the workmanship, they were prompt, conscientious, friendly, good communicators and easy to have around the house (my 6 month old little boy was especially fond of them). Lenny is a qualified carpenter but also does kitchen fitting, plastering, tiling, all types of flooring, decorating etc.

Lenny completed the project quickly and efficiently and we look forward to having him and Craig back to do some more jobs for us in the Spring

  3. Morning ladies

I've finally, finally, finally started mat leave - hooray. Ive only managed to get to one Sat meet up so far but was wondering if anyone was around and fancied a meet up today? I will have my very sociable 21 month old girl with me so either this morning or later this afternoon (pre and post nap times - so before 12.30 or after 3).

Oh and congratulations Erika and Annabelle - I hope you're enjoying it all.

  4. Our baby had reflux till about 5 months old though maybe not as severe as your baby as Gaviscon seemed, eventually, to work for us. I would definitely recommend trying medication. In addition though we spent the first four months letting baby suck the end of our little fingers (nail side down on her tongue) almost constantly as the sucking and swallowing seemed to help her keep the stomach acid down - it seemed to be the only way she could relax/get to sleep. We also kept her in babygros day and night until she was nearly 5 months as anything with a waistband seemed to aggravate the reflux and the usual thing of elevating her mattress in her Moses basket. Good luck, whatever you try and if breast feeding was making anything harder when you clearly need some rest don't think twice about having given it up.
  5. We had exactly the same problem last summer. They had No problem getting in touch to request the ?30 but then took on average 6 or 7 calls from us to get one back from Caroline. The nursery manager kept saying she'd passed the message on but we heard nothing.

We ended up going with another nursery on the basis that even though LJ would have been super handy we didn't thibk it was a great indication of parent contact or like the idea that they would ignore us if we needed to speak to them if our daughter was enrolled there. A few people I grumbled to at the time about it had had the same experience.

  6. We had a horrible experience with Haart when we were buying in the area - they continued to show a house that we had a sale agreed on (and after we had arranged a survey) to other prospective buyers and then forced us into a bidding war. They lied about the buying position of another prospective buyer (said she was cash when she wasn't) and we eventually lost the house. They then had the cheek to call us up a couple of months later when the "cash" sale fell through to ask if we were still interested. We were particularly upset as I was 7.5 months pregnant at the time and they very nearly caused us to lose the buyer for the place we were selling. Awful people.

We haven't used the Dulwich branch of Keatings (opp the station) but used their Clapham office twice when selling and buying before and they were fantastic. Really practical and efficient. As far as I know the deputy manager of the Clapham branch was sent over to open up the E Dulwich branch so I would hope the same standards apply.
