"tastes like medicine"... honestly :) actually a few of my friends have said that when I've tried to convince them of loveliness of Lagavulin - most disheartening ! I do remember some tasting notes mentioning boiled cabbage... never picked that up myself though (steer clear of cabbage in general :-)) a close family member does swear by a mini hot toddy in the morning to ward off any incoming colds - sounds like the strategy was based on fact after all...

I did hear about them importing peat - but the modelling of the still is really quite impressive (and mental)... Guess it's all about the water indeed Asset

Found the japanese bottle (and finished it!): Yamazaki 10yr, very drinkable if slightly lacking depth...

ahhh whisky... Lagavulin 16yr has always been my favorite, though a splash of Laphrioag always goes down well. most certainly up for a tasting session though - think Liquorish and The Palmerston have reasonable selections... anyone tried any Japanese single malts? tried one a while ago (can't remember the name) and was pleasantly surprised, though it didn't come close to any of the Islay ones. Jura Superstition is nice for those who like a bit of peat (silly name mind)

I too am completely fed up with sodding builders banging sawing shouting and generally making a racket. As more and more developers are trying to make cash around here it's only set to get worse... Also, why can't new buildings be designed a bit better? The place next to the train station looks like a block of prison cells .
