  1. Hello!

A lovely little cat has showed up on our terrace, just off rye lane, and has made herself at home after crying at our door for some time. She's young, grey, with charcoal stripes, and yellow eyes. She's incredibly docile, but gets alarmed by loud noises.

Is anyone missing a cat that sounds like her? Please PM me.

  2. Hey all!

I am a RADA trained actor, looking for some tutoring work while I rest. I currently tutor drama school applicants on their audition pieces (I have worked before on the RADA auditions), but I've also taught teenagers "Acting for Film" at a central London Performing Arts School. I've been through the LAMDA awards process myself and can help that those, or if you're just interested in exploring your creativity, then PM me and I can tell you more and send you my CV.

  3. I am a RADA trained actor, who also managed to get accepted to Bristol Old Vic and LAMDA. I have been working in the business for 5 years now and in my downtown, I often help out on the auditioning panel at RADA (though I'm not on the panel itself).

If you are looking for advice on applying, help with audition monologues and general tips, do's and don't, please PM me!

  4. feel a bit bad for not writing this sooner but a man tried to get into my apartment building about an hour ago on Sternhall lane. I was just about to leave the building when I saw him at the door. he glimpsed me and started to bang on the glass. So I turned on my heels and walked back upstairs to my flat.... I knew instantly that something wasn't right (plus I know everyone in the building). My instinct was right because when I went out onto my balcony which looks over sternhall lane, I saw him try every residential door on the lane. He was moving his way up towards the Dermott Road area...basically away from Rye Lane towards East dulwich, perhaps.

Filed a report with police. Was meant to get a call back from local officers but still no word.

He is a white man, definitely over fifty, bald head. Not a massive frame, probably under 6 foot wearing a dark hooded jacket and tracksuit bottoms with trainers.

Might be an opportunist looking for an open door so keep and eye out and keep your front door locked.

  5. A whole section of Rye Lane (the Peckham Rye end) was cordoned off by police this evening. Tried to find out what happened but the police just said that there had been a 'serious incident' that id read about in the papers tomorrow. Anyone know what happened?

  6. I understand what you're saying damian, and I do respect it. I concur that having a drink on LL is not enough (although, it couldn't hurt). And they may well be laughing at anyone going down to Peckham to clean up the mess, but who cares? I can respect myself more for having done it. And most people that live in Peckham had nothing to do with the rioting so why not lend a helping hand?

Anyway, what's your more robust solution? (or have you already detailed that in previous posts?)

  7. Damian,

I think you're being extremely harsh deriding people for being scared and not rushing out with baseball bats during the riots. It was such a shocking thing to happen and no one knew what would happen next. Did you rush out with a baseball bat??

And why rubbish people for trying to draw something positive out of this whole sorry mess? It's good that people pulled together to clean up the mess. The first step to getting over all of this is to draw on community spirit, build on that. That will help break the barrier of fear and then maybe next time a riot erupts, we won't 'hide, snivelling with fear', but instead we might be able to trust that if we rush out to protect our area, our neighbour will be out there too. Baby steps.

  8. Hello,

Just thought I'd open this up to keep up to date on happenings today. I saw something on twitter about a garage being destroyed today in Forest Hill. Also heard a woman on her mobile (about 15 mins ago) at the park end of rye lane telling her son to stay indoors as she heard about a group of rioters moving down Queens Road peckham. May just be hearsay but thought it worth alerting people as the news agencies seem not to be too interested in the Peckham/ed area today...
