  1. I used to do that in the sixties as a teenager, out for a Sunday tour, I was with the South Pennine road club back then.

Reading this thread took me right back.

    So thanks for that McC,

"dig 'em in" we used to shout this encouragement to the racing lads!

  2. But its new course tomorrow and the famous old course on Monday so hope it might have warmed up by then. wrote Mick Mac.

This is the south arctic you're talking about Mick, scratch any ideas about warmth

and keep a couple of flourescent orange balls nearby just in case of snow!

Ps. a pair of mink-lined plus-fours might be a good investment,

    as you're up there.

  3. If it is the spring I'm thinking about it may make the pedal rattle without the spring to tension it.

You might drop in to a garage and ask their opinion you could try the brothers in Hindman rd at the Dulwich test centre,

they are approachable and sensible so could give you a price, and the likelihood of any long term damage if any.

Reg and Paul are the proprietors.

  4. When my wife was pregnant and wanted to fly all over the place at 66 weeks or thereabouts,

I secretly went and booked a week together in a very ritzy pampering spa, it was one of the best of all our holidays,

    sadly it whizzed passed.

Avoiding all the airport miseries, and no expensive tickets, was bliss.

  5. What must I do to get Barry rd re-surfaced?

It must be one of the busiest stretches in ED second to LL of course. Any bus or commercial vehicle shakes the house from front to back.

I contacted the council 2 years ago and nothing has improved, the pedestrian lights at the Underhill crossroad, that surface has been patched on a number of occasions but now it is deeper and more convoluted than ever, due to the buses pulling in at the stop.

Please James pleeeease get Southwark to act before the house crumbles to dust.

I had to ring them and explain about the state of the road outside the house, each bendy bus passing north or south makes the house shake and shudder right through to the back door.

It took twenty five minutes explaining word for word, whilst the almost illiterate clown at the other end of the phone using his 'slow pencil', scribbled down some kind of garbled message which has failed to produce any results.

    Grrrrr!

Why have employ someone to man a phone line to feed forward information if they do not act, why not save that money and use it for something beneficial.

  7. I sympathise with the shopkeeper.

I had an employee who ran up a bill of ?2,500 on the firms phone and when she was sacked she went to the employment tribunal and I was ordered to pay her ?7000 for unfair dismissal plus the cost of getting the information to fight the case which was another ?6000

When will business people be allowed to get fair play?

That was the toughest thing to get my head round giving him any of my hard earned,

especially as I have since learned that he is a world class version of J Edgar Hoover who had records of everyone in

the USA, but Rupe has them on everyone who matters in the world.

Being a practical and prudent tight wad, it is the best package for the price.
