  1. There are so many issues with disabled parking that I'm not even going to try and go into it as obviously people feel strongly about this.

With regards to comment about being rich and having disposible income, I don't. I run a business and things are generally very tight at the moment. Won't always be and I'm blessed with a nice home so not complaining.

I'm not advocating parking in disabled bays as a rule although think that particular bay is a bit of a silly place. I am suggesting that in my tiredness last night I couldn't find another parking space so parked somewhere to pick up something quickly from Somerfield as it had been a long day. In doing so I have to pay ?60. Now I'm pretty sure some of the people here are amazingly perfect citizens and are perfectly entitled to chastise my very existence but at the end of the day I still think its a wrong.

First time I have ever parked in a disabled bay and under normal circumstances it would have clocked properly in my head that that was a disabled bay. It didn't really so the threat or detterent did not affect me. Nor will it again in an equally obvious but probably different circumstance.

Ant I think that terrible behaviour is a bit steep and I was venting frustration but thanks for reminding me and didn't want any sympathy just wanted to vent my frustration at my own stupidity mixed with something that I think is too regimented.

  2. Legit ticket. I parked in a disabled bay (being that it was 9pm at night and apart from the fact it was the only parking space anywhere). I was ten minutes in Somerfield and rest assured that there were no fake or real disabled people anywhere.

My thoughts are that if it is late at night and you are not causing danger to anyone by parking in a stupid place then what the F+!? is the issue except revenue.

If we can claim unfair bank charges back then surely ?60 for a parking ticket is ajoke. What is it that I am paying for and where is it going to.

Sorry but having a real issue with the fact that when you are up against it with organising things in your life that things like this make it more difficult. I also think that fines are really unhelpful and not useful generally. I made a mistake about parking somewhere, is it helping by fining me? Is it supposed to Condition me? No just a mistake brought on by having a stressed out lifestyle. May well happen again and probably at the worst time

  3. Just got a ticket 9.15pm. Since when do traffic Wardens work in East Dulwich at night. Is it because ED is full of people that can afford parking tickets. I bet if I parked illegally in Peckham high street no one would bat an eye lid.

Not just that parking tickets have now gone up to ?120 or ?60. Any lawyers think that there is a case for Southwark genuinely taking the piss

  4. Thanks everyone. We are going around with posters and a letter drop this evening. She has a couple of weeks left of being pregnant I believe but could very well be making a nest. She must be hungry and she is very loud so if you hear any calling noises it is probably her. Its a very distinctive sound.

Thanks again and hopefully she will turn up soon.

  5. We have just moved house to Muschamp road and the builders came to finish something off yesterday and have managed to not follow very clear instrustions about letting a heavily pregnant Bengal house cat out of the door. She has been out overnight and we are very very worried as we have only lived there for 4 days and she has never been out of the house for longer than an hour and never unsupervised. Please could everyone keep an eye out for her.

She is very distinctive. She looks like a mini leopard and is small to medium sized with a bump in her belly. Bengal cats hate cars and she has been pretty scared when we have taken her for the odd walk. Her name is Tara or Tarapants and I would imagine that unless she has caught and eaten something then she will be very hungry. If you do catch her please be careful when picking her up as she has babies in her tummy.

Please call me if you see her 07799646732.

Reward offered and much much love given to whoever helps us find her.

    Thanks

  6. On the subject of Comedy some friends of mine who are East Dulwich locals are performing their cabaret Popcorn Club from 17th-20th May at Hoxton Hall. see www.popcornclub.co.uk for more info. We are trying to find a local place to do these in East Dulwich as they put on an amazing show with a really diverse group of cabaret, alternative circus, Physical comedy etc....

Not sure if anyone saw last weeks Time Out about the Monkey lady. Saw her a couple of months before that article came out at a Popcorn club and have never laughed so hard in all my life.

If anyone knows of a local venue (or if anyone is a Dulwich Player and can talk to me about giving up one of their evenings at Constitutional hall a month) then please get in touch.

  7. Ahhh but keef its a question of how much food Tesco's, Somerfield and Sainsbury throw away in their bins secretly at night. Food that is past its sell by date but would probably still feed many many people.

I have a few friends that are freegans and I tell you Waitrose, Sainsburys and Marks and Sparks bins are the best apparently. The quality of food is high and they throw things away well before they go off.

Its all very sad to think people in this country let alone others don't have enough to eat and supermarket managers are throwing food for the 5000 away!

  8. That sounds like a good plan. How about starting the Chess this coming Tuesday, then the following Weds etc etc? Should the venue be a bar?

Andrew where is your choir and are they professionals? My partner is looking for a choir to join but for fun and to learn rather than one that is already outstanding.

  9. I was going to tekll everyone about this yesterday before I went to see it but I'm glad I waited. Last night I saw Dan Zane and friends at the Southbank Centre and it was amazing. As we don't have kids we invited afew of our friends that had kids but would not have been able to afford it.

Not only was it an absolutely brilliant performance I witnessed the transformation of a 11 year old, too cool for school child go from not dancing and being a bit tut tut to having the time of his life. And what you may ask did that, well a blend of folky, blues music administered by Dan Zane and band, alongsde a full brass band and a big black rap star called father goose.

You will never have seen anything like this and it is worth taking your kids to as its just so much fun and by the third song all of the adults were having a party too.

Its on at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on the Southbank today, Sunday and Monday. see www.southbankcentre.co.uk for more details.

If you know any people that you can take who can't afford it but you can, I highly recommend spreading the love.

It made me realise that kids in London just need to have more real fun and to loosen up.
