  1. I used Aaron for the second time to do some plastering in my flat just before Christmas. Once again he was punctual, polite and reasonably priced. He did a few extras for me and left his working area clean and tidy.

Would highly recommend for any plastering work you might need.

  2. I met up with some friends here last week

Food and service were fantastic. Highly recommended. Not sure how you are planning to get there but the train goes from Peckham Rye to Eynsford and takes about half an hour ? so nothing to stop you having a cheeky bottle of plonk with your meal. If you are driving there is a large car park. The staff made a huge fuss over the children and provided booster seats.

  3. I love my slow cooker. I use it at least one a week (more often in the winter) and make loads of stuff in it. Spag bol, chilli, curry, stews, chops, roast meats. I tend to chuck everything in the night before and stick it in the fridge and just drop the dish into the hotplate when I get up in the morning (I?m out the door at 6am so cant face chopping veg at that time of the morning). Nothing quite like the smug feeling of being at work knowing your dinner is cooking away ready for your return. Top tip is use less liquid that you would if you were cooking in an oven or a hob as the gentle heat of the slow cooker doesn?t evaporate the liquid as much.
  4. It seems that it was less of a TLRA issue and more of a few individuals using the Association as a front. I bet the members of the TLRA know nothing of the case and would be horrified to know that they are inadvertently being used for such a (dare I say) nasty vendetta.

I don?t have kids and don?t plan to in the near future but I can sympathise with the parents. I know that having to settle a little one into a new environment can be stressful all round. I would happily sign something to keep the Piplings going. We should be praising the lady who runs it for providing the community with such needed child care

I would happily swap my awful neighbours for 24 + small children screaming or otherwise between the hours of 7.30am-6.30pm.

  5. Is anyone else giving this a go? I had already decided to cut out drinking in January and after a cold over Christmas I am left with a hacking cough that?s not shifting and now I?m afraid it never will and I will end up a wheezing, grey skinned wrinkly old lady with a 20 a day habit.

So, as of the 2nd of January I want to start my new life as a non smoker. Does anybody have any top tips? I have tried to give up a few times but never last more than a few days. I?ve never tried patches or any other nicotine replacements. I?ve heard good things about Alan Carrs book, has anybody given this a go? Any success stories people want to share? Anybody else giving up the evil weed?

  6. Hoping the Mums and Dads of the EDF can help me.

My nephew, who is 7 months old, will be starting swimming with his Dad after Christmas.

I really want to get him everything he will need (my nephew, not his Dad) but I have no idea where to begin.

I?ve had a look through some websites but I?m getting confused, especially with what he should be wearing, wetsuit, swim nappies (do they need a nappy underneath)? Also, are there any must haves that make life easier and any other advice would be welcome?

    Thanks everyone in advance

  7. This is my daily commute. I know I?m too late for Frankito but at that time of the morning it will take a lot longer than half an hour. They journey itself is very quick but the amount of people squeezing onto the escalator to the tube platform and then onto a tube can add a hefty amount of time to your journey as you will probably need to let a few tubes go before you can squeeze onto one.

I would say for a 9am arrival you should be on the train at HOP by 8.20am and keep your fingers crossed that the jubilee line is running a good service.

  8. I?m of the go out and talk to them camp. A few summers ago I had a small group of lads hanging around outside the front of my flat at all hours. They didn?t seem to have any concept of the noise they were making.

My neighbour went down lean out of the window and tell them to f-off route, whereupon she was greeted with abuse. When it got to about the 3rd night running, rather than laying in bed getting angry I actually got up and went to speak to them. Once I explained that they were keeping me awake and I have to be up early to go to work they couldn?t apologise enough and the problem went away. I still see a few of them now and they always stop for a chat. They have all grown up to be nice polite young men, not the thugs that many people believe the yoof of today are.
