  1. Good morning mums and dads

I am in need of some advice please:

My friend has an au pair and because I?m in a difficult situation with School runs (can?t find anybody!) she has kindly offered me get some help from her too.

I would only need her a day or two a week.

Now, if I were to get her help in days when she doesn?t work for my friend, I would pay her directly, right?

But I need her on the days she looks after my friend?s child too, so how do I go about with payments? My instinct would be to give half each, so there?s a gain for all parties involved, but giving ?5 each per hour seems too little, so I really don?t know what to do, and neither does my friend..

    Your advice is hugely appreciated

    Thanks in advance

  2. Hi,

It seems there are a lot of bike thieves around..

Two guys broke in our block of flats (and others) at the end of November. Same area: Vale End, Beasant Place, Hsyes Grove. They were kicking doors open and looking for bikes in the common areas. It happened at 2pm! My husband called the police but they didn't get there in time to catch then.

The same thing happened last Thursday and I was home this time. I called the police and so did someone else, so the police caught them and I have been told they are now so ending some days in prison before going to court!

Hopefully we can get a break!

  3. Hi all,

    I've seen all these comments..

I am organising a b/day party for my son who will be 1 and I wanted to do it there because it's 1 min away from our home and it's got a great garden..

I went there yesterday to book. I met Gary and he's really nice but think the real boss there is Tony, spoke to him too, old man, old fashioned, yea, but if we just get food and drinks we should be ok..?

I went there once for dinner last year (after the 'grand opening') and it was lovely.

    Thoughts please :-)

I wouldn't want to ruin my boy's party of course!

  4. Hi

the Bee is great and we used the cocoon until our son was about 6 months.

You can push it around with one hand, super easy especially if you go shopping!

The only problem (don't want to be negative but I think it is important to show the negatives, so you can decide..) with it -in my opinion- is that it is so easily manoeuvrable that it can sometimes be a bit unstable, for eg. when getting on buses or -much worse- on trains, as the front wheels go 'wild'..

If you use trains a lot you might just need a hand from someone, that's all.

If you just walk around though, it's great!

    Hope it helps

  6. Hi families,

I need your help/opinion on something.

We are thinking (because of availability of days, not because of our own choice) of sending our little one to the childminder 2 days and to nursery 1 day..

On your experience will it be too confusing/upsetting for a baby?

He'll be 1 when he starts, so not too young, but he is very sensitive and a bit shy so I want to take the decision that is the least 'shocking' for him.

Sometimes I think exposure to loads of different people might actually help him and 'toughen him up' but sometimes I think it might just shock him..

    Opinions please

    Thanks for reading

  7. Hi

we are a family of 3, live in ED and absolutely love it.

However we are considering moving in order to be able to buy a bigger place, in view of an expanded family.. ED property prices are just crazy!

Does anybody know how Crystal Palace is and how schools are?

    Thanks for any comment/advice

  11. I agree with all the positive comments! I am Italian and I feel I have to endorse this place! I took my husband there on Tuesday for his birthday with my in-laws (English) and we all loved the food. I had the carpaccio and it was lovely, hubby had the pizza and I tried it too, delicious, perfect base that doesn't get soggy, hooray! Well done and good luck
  12. Hi

I was looking on the forum to have the same answer :-)

I also would love a B&B for my mum when she comes to visit but the only one I have found is one on Pellatt Road, see link: http://www.bedandbreakfast.co.uk/property.asp?PropertyID=2938&PropertyName=East%20Dulwich%20B&B

I have never seen it though, or stayed in it so I have no idea how it is. Judging by the difference in prices between this and the Lilac (wow crazy expensive that one!!!...mmhh..not sure. If you ever try it let me know :-)

  13. Hi Craigy,

sorry if I ask but I am very new to all af this...so the Goose Green nursery has a government-funded 15-hour-programme which does not cost the parents anything? Does this mean 3 hours a day for 5 days or is it split differently? Also, if you want to have more than 15 hours (paying of course) is it possible and if so how much does it cost? Again, sorry but I can't find any info on their website..

    Thanks in advance
