  1. We recently asked Rupert (07984 690211) to help us with several carpentry jobs in our house after creating a kitchen extension.

Rupert is reliable, polite and trustworthy. His work is excellent and he was happy to give us different options, order materials, check we were happy as the job progressed. Rupert cut kitchen shelves, painted and installed them, added a dado rail to our hall, made a bi-fold door for our downstairs loo, built and installed an internal window, put up a couple of 'picture shelves' and a few other little jobs (patching in skirting boards etc).

We will definitely use Rupert again as the final results are really good!

  2. Another recommendation for David at Godden Structural Repair http://goddenstructural.com/ - we had some worrying cracks in our house and having spoken to several builders, decided to employ David to remedy the issue. He was organised, efficient, provided a clear detailed quote, clearly knowledgable about the local SE22 soil issues and an all round nice chap to deal with. The work was carried out carefully with respect to the rest of our house - good job all round.

Would happily recommend Godden's and will use them again if needed.

  3. Another big recommendation for Niko - I called him needing urgent help as my dishwasher was leaking over the kitchen floor and as I had a poorly baby in the house I wasn't able to investigate properly let alone fix it myself. He came out within the hour, sorted the problem quickly and calmly. He came back a couple of weeks later to do some more work for us - lovely chap, punctual, keeps in touch on arrival times etc and a pleasure to deal with. I can't recommend him highly enough.
  4. One more recommendation for Steve from DG Services. He was prompt, polite and came in with a very reasonable quote. We had our decking jetwashed and restained, patio flagstones relaid and repointed and some unneccessary concrete "rope" edging from our front path removed, making good the resulting mess. A reliable, and conscientious guy that we would use again.
  5. Hi all, I'm looking for some advice from anyone who has experience of sharing a nanny with other parents. Close friends of ours have a daughter 3 weeks older than our son and we're considering sharing a nanny when the babies are around 12 months old.

If anyone has experience of a similar arrangement, I'd like to know what are the pitfalls to watch out for, what were the ground rules that you agreed in advance, how easy will it be to find a nanny willing to take this on and generally is this something that other nannying employing parents would recommend.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. We found Darren on the forum where he has lots of good reviews and we have been very impressed by the standard of his work and professional manner throughout our job. Our living room was really tired, there were lots of little jobs required to make it look good - Darren practically reskimmed our pretty ropey ceilings to put up new coving and ceiling roses, new picture rail, tidied and repaired skirtings, painted walls and woodwork. His attention to detail was far beyond anything we could have achieved ourselves, lots of prep that definitely showed in the end result. Our friends and neighbours have also commented on what a great job he's done - a lovely chap, tidy, trustworthy and just got on with it. He finished when he said he would, arrived promptly every day and didn't charge the earth. Would highly recommend Darren and we'll definitely use his services again.
