  1. Really interesting to read all the comments on here. I'm opening (subject to planning) a small 10-tap bottle shop/bar in Penge where I moved to. Right on the 176 route by the Homebase stop/just down from Penge West station. As a former ED resident I'm surprised there isn't more of this in ED. Hopefully if the Penge place takes off I can pop one in LL! I'll be crowdfunding for beer tokens soon so I'll keep you posted if you're interested. The taproom and shop will be a physical version of my online beer club www.craftmetropolis.co.uk which I run out of Penge. Cheers all! Speak soon, Oli

  4. Without risking the wrath of admin my site I posted about the other day has a load of styles from London breweries and has more set to come in the new year. If anyone has any recommendations or additions they would like to see please let me know - I will see what I can do.

  5. I think a lot of places make an IPA as a default beer as it's solid but you will find most breweries have at least 4 beers on their books that are varied in style and flavour. Jeremy, you are right the American Pale ales do very well especially as they are quite fruity with their hoppyness. Most breweries know they need to satisfy growing tastes and that's great news for beer fans as loads of new beers are coming onto the scene. O

  7. Moved from Ed to Penge 6 moths ago and adore it. Don't miss much from Ed, in fact I think it's better. The main draw is waht you get for your money but if youre looking for an area which is quiet, friendly, has decent and improving creature comforts in terms of shops etc I think it's Penge. Good luck. Sold up my ED flat in the summer and moved to Penge. Best thing I ever did, no matter how much I loved ED, and I did for years. Penge has a massive park, nice pub, amazing transport links, nice new eateries popping up, Penge food Centre, feels very safe, green and leafy, functional high street....i could go on. I admit i couldn't afford to stay in ED but given the option of moving knowing what I know now I just think Ed is taking the piss out of everyone moving in and paying that amount. Fair play if you have it and want what ever it is that Ed offers but you're utterly crackers IMHO.

  9. Can anybody recommend a good hair stylist to do wedding hair? I live local but will be getting married in East London on my wedding day. They would need to available on Friday 26th July about 11am to do my wedding hair. Ideally I would like a trial first. I have an idea of how I want my hair, 20's slight finger wave and loosely tied up.

Please quote me a price for a trial and on the day. I am happy to cover public transport costs as there will be no parking near my hotel in Farringdon.

Please get back to me asap!

    Desperate bride!

  10. Just to let you know my water has got worse-its stupid now. My boiler wont even recognise the amount of water flowing through it to fire it up! I?ve asked the water council to get involved and they have asked Thames Water are coming to test the pressure soon. I will keep you informed but if you want to help/get info on what can be done, if anything, please call the Water Council on: 02079318502. this is the division that deals with Thames Water. It may help if there's more than one voice putting pressure (scuse the pun) on them
