  1. I would agree totally with the original post. In my case according the official scheduling my street gets swept 12 times a year , once a month !!. But the street in the front every day AM/PM. So when the gutters leading to my closest drain clog up I'm out there sweeping and cleaning them out to clear them, I then sweep them into the main street to meet the twice daily street sweeping machine to pick up. Also council bins were removed from my corner for no particular reason, so the taxi drivers just drop there rubbish in the gutter whilst waiting and drive off. Southwark need to get "Real" and maintain the streets much better, perhaps I need to submit a invoice for my efforts twice a week ?
  2. Must say I had a very good coffee this morning , place looks great , lovely genuine staff , I wish them well
  3. Informative thread as follows: This morning I noticed the Southwark rubbish truck picking up charitable donations that had been left outside the Mind charity shop. (Located next to the roundabout on lordship lane and Goose Green) The workmen were throwing the donations away into the back of the refuge truck. There is a green bin to the left of the building to place the OOHs donations. However these donations were nicely packed up in boxes outside the door, perhaps they could have left them, but all the same be aware of this practice if you don't wish your charitable gifts binned.
  4. I would like to thoroughly recommend the services of Saied and his wonderful team at Dulwich Eco Gardening. Briefly, In the lead up I met with Saied a few months before to discuss options and solutions to my troublesome rapidly deteriorating front hedge. After much planning I handed the team a tricky little clearing and a challenging landscaping number which included the installation of a Dutch system called "living Wall system" to which he hadn't seen before but after research embraced it with both hands. On Monday Saied and his team arrived, and by the end of a long day had cut down and dug up all the roots of the diseased "leylanii fur trees". On the following two days his team had carefully measured installed and concreted all posts ,dug out and treated all the existing soil and prepared the garden for the arrival of the living wall. The living walls have now arrived and are being installed at the time of this post, the transformation is impressive from a sad deteriorating garden space to a light airy large space. The living fence will continue to grow over the next few years and thicken acting as a barrier and a filter to the traffic. I shall post the final pictures upon completion of the landscaping. Furthermore I have found Saied to be a true gentleman and a pleasure to work with, his team tidy, efficient punctual and courteous with nothing to much trouble and beyond reproach. If you want smooth operation completed with care and efficiency then Dulwich Eco gardening is the one in my experience.
  5. Yes much prefer a run down boarded up shop/building .......not!! , actually liked the Art gallery whilst it lasted :) , don't be afraid of change
  6. Well I hope whomever takes over the site, cracks on and doesn't leave the building boarded up and empty for months like the pizza place on the draft house site..
  7. Indeed a load of old cobblers, but though I would throw it into the forum for local consumption. However in light of the "up and coming" tag East Dulwich is still a cheaper alternative then north, east and west London pricing as unpalatable as that sounds. Now for a grande extra hot soy with extra foam, split shot with a half squirt of sugar-free vanilla and a half squirt of sugar-free cinnamon, a half packet of splenda, oh and put that in a venti cup with a cup cake....:)
  8. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/mortgageshome/article-2624224/From-delis-farmers-markets-heres-spot-areas-ripe-investment.html This was listed 2 days ago, interesting read cup cakes and all:)
  9. Planning docs http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeDocs&TheSystemkey=9553547
  10. Franca Manca must have to much money to have a prime building sitting empty for 6 months while they twiddle their thumbs... in light of that, lots of turnover in the Lane at the moment.....
  11. Please no more on the "insensitive" ongoing class war red herrings that appear to be taking over the ED forum topics as of late, whats the alternative should we nationalize all failing shops ???? A shop either works or or doesn't. A local business obviously has to have kerb appeal to draw you in and make you want to purchase something or buy into the theme/personal service. If it doesn't or it looks as though the owners can't be bothered anymore then it will fall by the way and another place will pop up in its place. It's our right as the hard working consumer to spend our money on where and wherever we please. So I stand by my initial observation of the Irish shop. Dasvidaniya tovarich
  12. Cant say i'm sad to see the Irish shop close in truth, it had the come and visit me appeal of a tramps underpants !!
  13. James thoughts on the amount of rubbish pilled up from lordship lanes business's on the footpaths in the evenings? I bring this up as summer is on the way (fingers crossed) a lot of the restaurants and bars on the lane are setting up tables on the street which is great, but with piles of empty food boxes and rubbish it's not so nice and the lane could be a lot better without the refuse. Do you think it be a good idea if the council provided large bins for the commercial rubbish say around the side streets away from residential houses, or better still organised a rubbish run for the lane between 6pm and 7pm with all other commercial rubbish found a warning issued ?? perhaps a bit draconian thoughts ? Perhaps yourself and or the Councillors could advise if there is anything afoot to look into this already?
  14. Well there is space on the footpath in between Barklays and the HSBC bank for a few large bins. these are away from residential homes , and if done properly then they should blend in. i'm talking about say no more then 3 large bins for commercial use only
  15. As previously mentioned pop up??
  16. Cheers but six months is a long time empty .....
  17. What are peoples thoughts on the amount of rubbish pilled up from lordship lanes business's on the footpaths in the evenings? Perhaps James Barber and or Councillors could advise if there is anything afoot to look into this already?
  18. Perhaps I should rename this topic what we all think about "Louisa" Back to the topic the Draft house it closed a fair few months ago and still it remains empty and boarded up with nothing going on inside, not a squiggle of life from Frano Manca. I have had a peer through the front door and it is as it was. My point is , that its a shame its been left boarded up and empty , perhaps a pop up could have filled the void in the interim. Just an opinion, I would rather shops are open then boarded up........
  19. Edcam ,I looked through the front door and its as it was in the days of the draft house minus the bar taps , so nothing renovation wise has started yet.
  20. Well fingers crossed it goes ahead , great location
  21. Well on that , back to the original topic of the empty boarded up Draft House pub.......its a shame its been empty for so long and the new pizza shop has yet to start the renovations to transform the building. Now for the empty Threshers wine shop across the street ....
  22. Straferjack oh get a life you miserable so n so
