  1. Junior chef wanted for busy community pub on Telegraph Hill SE14. You'll need to be enthusiastic and knowledgeable and be able to take charge of a small but busy kitchen by yourself. The food is eclectic, high quality but affordable and will give someone plenty of scope to try out their skills. The package is negotiable and could include a very nice flat as part of the deal. If you are interested message me with your number.
  2. I'm looking for an experienced front of house/ bar person to join our new team. You'll need to be cheerful, well organised and have excellent people skills as this is a proper local serving the good people of Telegraph Hill SE14. It's a lovely friendly community and the pub plays an important part in the life of local people. Send me a message with a contact number if you're interested.
  3. After lengthy communications with someone over a number of days I finally got to the bit in the transaction when the seller gave me the address to collect form. It was in a place called Wallington which is somewhere south of Croydon. After all the negotiations , missed calls etc the item that I was interested in buying was miles away. One of the great things about EDF is the locality thing. If you trade something it's usually with someone a few streets away or 5 minutes in the car, on a few occasions I've bought stuff from acquaintances. The deal fell part as I wasn't willing to drive to Wallington. The seller was a bit miffed as she said she'd turned down offers from other potential buyers. The seller said that she had used EDF for buying and selling when she lived in Clapham and didn't understand my reason for pulling out of the deal, I reckon the round trip would have been a couple of hours. I suggest that

people check where pick ups or drop offs are expected or maybe buyers/sellers could put the first part of their postcode on their ads when they post them.

  4. I need a reliable person who is used to lifting and carrying dirty materials to come and clear away the spoil from a garden project. Mainly part filled bags of stones and broken bricks but also a bit of timber and other garden waste (grubbed up shrubs etc also bagged). It is kerbside so just needs to be moved a few feet. Not enough to fill a 4 yard skip. It won't take more than 10 minutes to load up. Please don't offer to do this if you don't like dirty work and have a shiny, clean van I seem to have deleted all my previous messages so apologies to anyone who responded to my previous post. You can contact me on 0759 295 8671.
  5. Blimey, I'm glad I'm not opening any kind of business in ED. If I was I would avoid forums altogether and concentrate on providing a good service to customers rather try and appease curmudgeons and snipers. Forums in no way offer an accurate description of what takes place in a business, they are just personal opinions and often loaded. I went to a tapas place in Southern Spain last year that had been voted the best in Andalucia on Trip Advisor. Sure enough, it was pretty good. I had a beer with the owner (a Dutch guy) who was chortling because he said that there were much better places to eat tapas than his bar, but British people didn,t go to them. Too Spanish for Brits. Take all postings with a pinch of salt, visit and then make your own mind up. Good luck Boulangerie Jade, you'll need it in hypercritical ED.
  6. Hello I've been running my own food business for some years and built my own house. I'm a keen gardener with a large allotment and gardens. I'm looking for occasional work to support my other activities. Please see the attached flyer for further details.

I live locally, Nunhead, and I am available at short notice. Iam diligent, punctual and good humoured.

Hoping that someone will get me kick started so that I can build up some positive recommendations.

  8. Sometimes there is a revolting tone to some of these posts. 'If you've got time to wash yourself then you have got time to keep your home and the path leading up to your home clean and tidy'. Do you have any idea how that sounds? It would be interesting to know which party AlexK was leafleting for. Mind you I know plenty of smug SOB's sitting in their million pound houses who still describe themselves as old lefties, so what does it matter. And to my mind there's sod all difference between a leaflet from the Tories or Labour and one from a pizza shop. They both go into the recycling without being looked at.
