I know exactly who you're talking about. He recently remarked glibly, as he walked past me, that he 'would set his dogs on' something or other. Can't remember the context, but it confirmed the impression I already had that he weaponises his pets and likes that they intimidate people. I won't go outside with my dog if he's passing.

  2. Glad your hound is recovering, what a nightmare.

Any description of the owner would be useful in consideration that the he/she would appear uninterested in stepping forward on this occasion so may be equally uninterested in the community’s welfare when they get replacement dangerous dog(s).

Forewarned is forearmed (to a limited extent under these horrible circumstances).

I wonder if it's the same two staffies that have had incidents at Goose Green and Brockwell Park?

If it is, the police had been notified about them and their oxygen thief of an owner multiple times and did nothing.

He publicly trained the dogs' bite grip.

Why does it take someone's beloved pet dying for action to be taken?

What were the incidents(s) at goose green you mention ?

I’ve seen someone walking around Crystal Palace road/goose green with two huge staff/pit type dogs always off lead and could almost predict a problem given the guy’s menacing demeanour, so wonder if related to your comment.

  4. In this day and age anybody buying an upstairs flat is inevitably going to want to extend upwards if they can afford it, rather than have to go through the entire process again of buying a larger property as they step up “the ladder“ with the prohibitive costs involved. That would be reasonable behaviour on the part of an upstairs leaseholder. Anybody buying a property such as that, where other leaseholders in the property are intent on preventing such improvement to the property should in all fairness be advised in front that they will be opposed and if possible prevented from improving the property when they purchase it.

Solyent Green’s comment is more than reasonable (and an obvious consideration), he/she is not obliged to have a viewpoint exactly in line with the OP.

The advantage of this forum is exposure to viewpoints that are not exactly one’s own, no ?

I’d be interested in the reasons why somebody would be particularly intent on stopping somebody else improving their own property, especially when home improvements around East Dulwich are a common feature on every road the last three decades. ie. It is normal.

You are confusing The Cherry Tree (near the station) with Black Cherry (which you're right, was briefly The Draft House before becoming Franco Manca!)

No, it wasn't The Railway Tavern, and to the best of my recollection it was never a hotel, though I may be wrong.

It was called something else prior to the couple taking it over, and they changed its name back to The Cherry Tree because it had been called that previously. I think!

Somebody on here will remember what it was called, I'm sure!

Wasn’t it called The Manor (or something like that) for a bit?

  6. I’m not sure there was ever a collective aspiration for SM, Sparts. Some kind of ideal may have been sold but those controlling it may have a different view on what it will do for them. Undoubtedly much damage can be done on both the individual and collective level. And has been. Sometimes I wonder if enough damage has been done to justify quite Draconian restrictions, particularly on those trying to propagate mindsets.

If this is a response to my previous post then can I point out that I specifically condemned just the use of the word 'cyclist' to describe a con-merchant faking an accident (and indeed expressed some doubt that someone on a bicycle would/ could do so). I then did point out what a 'criminal cyclist' would look like - jumping red lights is a criminal offence and (some) cyclists do do this. Some cyclists, in their role as cyclists, do cycle criminally. Lots of people in different roles act criminally (a car driver jumping a red light is equally criminal). Your pathological need to defend anyone on a bicycle from any criticism is very noticeable - I would prefer just to defend the class of cyclists when they are associated, as a class, with non cycling offences - staging fake accidents, by whatever means, is not an offence specific to a type of vehicular use.

the bloke I saw do it was riding a bike and had a helmet on, he was a cyclist, no ?

If I had said 'every single cyclist under the sun' you may have a point though.

I don't think a dispute over terminology is required here !

Is there still a launderette locally which has a large capacity machine?

I need to wash a very large sofa cover.

There's one on Gibbon Rd, Nunhead.  I think it's part of the launderette group that included the now closed-down one on LL/Pellatt. Looks like same staff.

Royal Mail are claiming to have delivered two tracked packages to me yesterday. Both were eBay orders (from different people).

I haven't had either of them.

There is a GPS map associated with one,  showing the vicinity of my house, but neither of my neighbours has the package and there is nothing behind any pots etc at the front of my house.

The other one just says "delivery recorded", with no further information.

I was out, and I have spent far too long today on two phone calls to Royal Mail, in the first of which I was given completely wrong information about the process, and now find if the packages don't turn up after 72 hours, the sender/s have to refund me and also make a complaint to Royal Mail.

I'm sure they will be delighted.

Meanwhile, I don't have items which I needed for this coming Saturday. Nothing of any monetary value, but I can't get them locally, so very annoying indeed.

Has anybody else had similar instances lately? Judging by the time I had to wait both times I phoned, Royal Mail must be inundated with complaints at the moment.

The first time, I was told things could have been affected by the Microsoft outage, but surely in that case there would have been no information available at all about the packages, not two separate statements that they had been "delivered" ?

ETA: I've just had to make a THIRD call to Royal Mail because I only got email confirmation of one of the supposedly delivered packages.

It turns out that only one of them was reported to the delivery office yesterday. FFS. How many hours do I have to spend on this because of so many people's incompetence? Now a day has been missed in the timescale of their "process", plus obviously the two items should have been dealt with at the same time, because they were in the same delivery, so presumably are with the same (wrong) person or in the same (wrong) place.

ETA (again): Both of these packages have just arrived (Wednesday morning).

The lovely postie said he couldn't get them through the door on Monday, but couldn't explain why the tracking info said they had both been delivered on Monday. Oh well, at least I've got them now!

I had a couple of eBay parcels due same morning a couple of weeks ago. Updates told me morning delivery due. I purposefully worked in hallway so there’d be zero chance of me being marked as ‘did not answer’.

An hour or so later separate updates for each parcel told me delivery attempted but occupant ‘not home’. I checked outside, no sign of postie or parcels stashed anywhere.

No information was provided about what will happen next, whether redelivery will be attempted, whether the parcel(s) will be stored at the delivery office, no note through the door. Next morning I got a notification that delivery would be soon, I waited in the hallway again doing some work, then same thing I had notification that delivery has been attempted and occupant was not home.

So I know these updates (on these occasions) were BS.

Planned to go to the delivery office next day, on the off chance that these parcels are traceable/stored there. Later that afternoon, knock on the door and both parcels provided, for which I was grateful.

    It’s just all very weird.

  10. It’s unfortunate reading, however there are two sides to every story and I only have one side - big question is what about the other side of the story is. It’s difficult to convince people of a situation when there’s only one side and anyone reasonable will ask.

Remember that this moment is just a snapshot in your relationship with your kids and times will be different in the future. This is important for your survival.

If you always try to be reasonable with your kids and ex, the kids will see this and they will understand over time who is out of order.

The UK family courts are heavily skewed towards the female, it’s part of our societal sexism. This makes it easier for a female ex to poison the children without challenge. This is more prevalent outside London where there is a more “provincial“ attitude in the family courts.

Bringing this kind of abuse to the attention of the authorities in respect of poisoning, badmouthing, manipulation and gaslighting is unlikely to generate much action. The services are strained to the limits as you would expect, therefore only the most serious abuses receive full attention. In an ideal world poisoning would result in threat of/removal of the children.

So you have to work in the landscape you find yourself within, limited interest from the courts where there is a female instigator, limited opportunity to reassure/protect your children, limited empathy in a public setting because traditionally the male is seen as the problem maker.

Have you made contact with Families Need Fathers, they have a good support network.

Some Fathers who go through this become permanent woman haters, on account of the damage done to their children. They never recover and carry the wound to a bitter grave.

And one final thing, which I neither envisaged nor desired, my kids now have a problem with their mother, who didn’t stop her partner from bullying and Insulting. So, there are no winners in this game.IMG_3716.thumb.jpeg.fca643a06c43ce7ab303642376c0b3d6.jpeg

Here’s an artwork I made of the abuse my teenage daughters received from their stepfather, evidenced to me through video and audio recordings. Child protection ultimately too busy. There is a lot of it happening out there. Good luck!
