Dear Expectant Parents, I am a student on a Masters programme at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, focusing on child development. The course requires me to complete a two-year infant observation. The observation is a key component of the course as it helps my understanding of child development from birth onwards through observing an infant within their home environment and in interaction with their family members. The observation lasts for one hour a week (with breaks for holidays etc. as needed) until the infant's second birthday. The observation normally happens at a regular time each week and I would work out with you a convenient time for this to happen. As the observer, I take up a friendly and non-judgemental position in the home. I would not give advice or information on childcare.
