All these things have their place, but I don't thing I'd be shouting about them. Not in public, anyway. -

I'm loving this financial shootout between Huguenot and Alan - spaghetti western style. Though in truth I understand none of it (and am thankful I don't, to be honest) -

Is "Peckham Rye Park" really "East Dulwich Park"?

The 'Rye' side of SE22 is much more appealing anyway. Quieter streets, short walk to LL, nicer and more spacious houses, better transport options and, last but not least, a great park right on your doorstep. -

Quite right! How dare such a nice and well-kept park be associated in name with the shame of Peckham - despite being so-called for 100 years. In fact, we could grab the park and then re-name all of SE22 as 'Chelsea Borders' - to 'help' with house prices. Did anyone on the forum actually buy a house here to just.. you know.. live in it - without constantly obsessing about its value? -
where do people who live in east dulwich go on holiday?

I half expect Blue Mountain to have ousted the Tiny Tea Tent this year, or full wi-fi broadband access available in the tipi field (if I get a bloody ticket) *It's still great though -

I thought you'd enjoy that one. I had the God-Botherers at the door not so long back - I think that's why it popped into my head. Next time you offer-up a nut roast, say a couple of how's yer fathers' on my behalf eh? Am I off-topic yet? -

I was implying that most of your postings are enjoyably tetchy - nothing to do with your unchristian sexual preferences -

I fear James' bed only has one side (hee hee) -
Capt B, The icecaps will not be saved by half-heartedly trying to flog an underdeveloped product. The only people who will buy it are people like you - and me (I bought energy-saving bulbs to replace all my house lights so you are (literally) preaching to the converted here). I was just disappointed with the results, that's all. I can afford to road-test such a product, but not everyone can. And it's 'everyone' who needs to be convinced to make a difference.
-
How disappointing.. I was hoping it might be some kind of flannel or padded jacket, perhaps with a fleur-de-lys motif on the breast pocket and velvet cuffs.

Selling eco-products is no different to selling anything else. Get the product right. Get the cost right. Get the marketing right. .. and VOILA
-
All these things come down to 'degree'. My friends cousin, William, lived (more or less) down a hole in a wood - for a couple of years - protesting about the building of a new bypass in the local area. By his standards, every single one of us would fail 'the environmental test', just as some here may feel others are failing by their own standards. So what is an acceptable level of responsiblity? And who decides it? Answers on a postcard. A free energy-saving light bulb (only used once!) goes to the winner.

mockney piers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is this your way of saying 'lighten up'? > > ho ho ;) Pretty much, yes.

I know the contents of said dry old papers.. but I'm afraid they have nothing to do with the current standard of energy-saving lightbulbs, nor the relationship between cost and take-up.
-
Folks, There's a certain amount of needless sub-dissertation twaddle creeping in here on the half of the Geh-bashers.. all (s)he's saying is: energy-saving lightbulbs aren't up-to-scratch yet.. and.. if eco-stuff was cheaper / better (or preferably both) then more people would buy it. I don't think this really neccesitates a diatribe on the evils of man. Unless you all have solar panels on your glass houses then you ought not to be throwing stones.

Ha Ha.. small world indeed. "The Gardens" is East Dulwich's only 'square'.. it's a bit knackered now, but there are still a few four/five-storey monsters there to be had (for those with ????)

It sold. Back to square one. I love the way that Hinckley Road is identified as being 'near The Gardens".. I can almost feel the shiny suit and grasping handshake of an estate agent there.
