The Levis were 'seconds' though with the red tabs cut off. You could always stitch a complete red tab from your worn out 'first Levis onto the seconds and voila: a normal looking pair for less than half the price ! Luckily, I fit standard Levis so the guy never had to do any alterations (phew !) but I always thoroughly had the jeans washed returning home ! I daren't touch anything in that back room, mind ...
