  1. A recommendation for the really fab Kirkdale Fabrics! Passed by today looking for a very specific type of fabric. Great place, a real treasure trove. Lovely and very knowledgeable owner. Very affordable as well. The shop is open on Thursday,  Friday and Saturday.

  2. Just had the most lovely dinner at Cafe G and just wanted to make people aware that this lovely place is now open for dinner on Thursday-Friday and Saturday. On the menu are burgers (meat and veggie), wings, salads and some other nice dishes. The burgers are homemade and absolutely delicious (and huge), the service is fantastic and the prices are very good (we had two huge burgers, both double, fries and a beer and paid £27). Go and support them, such a great place! It’s around the corner from The Gardens.

  3. Dear East Dulwich Forum,

These are the masks I?ve made over the half term. I will unfortunately not be making any more for a while as school will restart on Monday and I will have a lot of work to do. Let me know if you would like to purchase any. All masks are reversible and they have a different fabric on the back.

Thank you for all your support for my project. I?ve raised almost ?700 so far which will all go to fantastic causes.

Stay safe and thank you again.

  4. Dear East Dulwich Forum,

I just wanted to let you know that I will be making some more masks this week as it?s half term so I have some free time. If you would like to order some masks, just send me a message. Thank you so much for all your support for my project! I have made well over 150 masks so far. All money raised is going to two animal charities and I am so happy that I will be able to make a significant donation to them due to all your support. Thank you.

  5. Dear East Dulwich Forum,

Thank you so much for all your orders and for all the lovely comments, it?s really amazing!! I just wanted to let everyone know that I cannot take any orders for the next few days as I have so many masks to make at the moment and also need to keep up with my school work ( gcse exams have been cancelled but we still have lots of work set).

So far I?ve raised over ?200 and hope to make more for these two amazing charities and I?m so grateful for your support. I?m going to use the weekend catching up on the outstanding orders and will be back next week.

    Thank you so much!

  6. Thank you so much for your kind comments Missse22 and Peckhamgatecrasher. We?ve experimented with different types and widths of elastic trying to find what would be most comfortable but also the best fit. I?m now using flat 6mm elastic and it?s comfortable to wear as the width means it doesn?t cut but it?s also not too bulky and gives a good fit. Thank you so much for your advice and I will check it out. Thank you again.
  7. Dear East Dulwich Forum,

I?m a 16 year old student who?s exams have been cancelled so have a bit of time on my hands. My mum (who?s account I?m writing on) has taught me how to make face masks (see attached photos) as we may have to wear them when travelling on public transport or whilst shopping. I would like to try and sell these with all money going to two charities close to my heart; Foal Farm, an animal rescue centre in Kent (foalfarm.org.uk) and the British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre, dedicated to the welfare, rehabilitation, retraining and rehoming of retired racehorses (britishtrc.co.uk).

The face masks are made of 3 layers of fabric, are reversible, washable (and therefor sustainable). I would like to sell them for ?3.50 each so ?1.75 for each charity for each mask sold. Collection is from the Sydenham Hill area and will be contact free (I?ll leave them in a safe place outside). Money can be put in the outdoor postbox or transferred. Please let me know if you might be interested in buying one or more of these masks.

    Update:

These are the masks I?ve made during the half term and will be the last ones for a while as I?ll need to get back to concentrating on school after this weekend. Please let me know if you would like to purchase any. All masks are reversible and have a different fabric on the back.

Thanks so much for all your support. It has been really amazing!

Update: All the masks have been sold and I will be taking a break now. I?ve made around 250 masks and it?s been a really great project to do. Thank you so much for your support!!

  8. Like Dulwich College, Alleyn?s is also using their DT lab to make masks and visors. Grateful to the staff at both schools, and any other schools doing this, for working during the Easter Holidays to provide these vital pieces of equipment to NHS frontline staff.

Alleyn?s top field is the one sandwiched between Townley Road and Calton Avenue btw.

  9. Saying Alleyn?s is a parasite squatting in our midst is quite a strong statement. As you were wondering if they give anything back to the community I thought I?d sent you this, which is on their website.

Alleyn?s gets a lot of bad publicity on this forum and some of it is well justified. However, they also do good and I think that?s sometimes worth mentioning as well.
