  1. This weekend 14/15th May why not come say hi to Pipkin&Co on Overhill Road SE22, as part of the Dulwich festival's Artist Open Houses. We design Scandinavian and retro inspired products for modern living. Imagine bright colours on white walls kind of thing. We have hand-poured candles, mugs, aprons, cushions, cards, art prints and more. We'll be serving tea, coffee and juice with a biscuit for those who make it up the hill, but the views are worth it!
  2. I'm so pleased someone has taken on this pub and is making a real effort. I haven't been in yet, so can only pass judgement on the outside. However, I am a designer (graphics, and interiors) and I'm afraid I'm really not keen on the logo. Before this went up everything was looking great. I love the simple white capital lettering with the black background, but when I walked past yesterday and saw the rather large 'Adventure bar' style WGT signage, I was very, very saddened.

Please, please, please, to all the people out there in the process of creating a frontage for your premises, please consider this extremely carefully. It can make or break a business.

To the owners of Watson's General Telegraph, is there any way you will reconsider? Everything else appears to look (well through the window and on your website anyway) really stylish and I'm really excited about popping in!

  3. HUSKIES!!!!!!

Can't wait to meet them. And of course Santa, who I hear is arriving on roller skates!

The Goodrich grotto is one of the most magical, so do come and say hello to Father Christmas, and we've got loads of new christmas stalls and activities this year. Plus there's two bouncy castles for the kids to let off steam if it all get's too much.

Don't forget to bring your cash or cheque books on the day so you can buy your perfect christmas tree (at bargain prices) at our pop-up shop, or bid on one of our 17 themed hampers!

There's the Goodrich choir and live music to get you in the christmas spirit while supping on a cup of mulled wine or munching on a homemade mince pie.

    See you all there!

  4. I love the EDF, but I've just had two postings moved from the general 'for sale' section into the family room. I'm not very keen on this, as I don't even bother with this section and I'm a full time mum! My item isn't a baby product, or a pram but something that could fit into both categories. I often buy things on the spur of the moment when I'm just browsing the general for sale section. I'm concerned being pigeon-holed will make our 'family' things harder to be seen. I'll probably sell my item in the next five minutes and will have to eat my words won't I!
  5. Here's the answer to all our questions. This is from an e-mail I recieved today from Harris school:-

Sorry about all the confusion and different things you?ve been hearing. Let me clarify; Gymnastics on a Tuesday is indeed no longer. We will be moving it to a Monday afternoon at the same time; 4.30 ? 5.30pm. And hoping to start it very soon. We currently looking for a new coach and will have one very soon.

That's us out then as we can't do Mondays - Shame as my daughter was loving it :-(

  6. Has anyone else had 'Chelsea Gardens LTD' call at their door today selling teak garden furniture from their van very cheaply. I was a bit dubious of them and can't find the company on google, so wondered if they were dodgy or not. The furniture look lovely but we were scared to take the risk. They said a lady on the corner had recommended they call on me, and that they had just finished an exhibition in Earls Court. Did anyone buy from them? Just wondering if I'd missed out on a bargain, or not.
  7. mmmmmm, many months ago, two 'non uniform' police knocked on my door to ask if they could get into my back garden as they were trying to make an arrest a few doors down and wanted to garden hop. I asked to see their id through the window which they happily did. I wasn't sure if it was real but because it was made of metal and had brail on it and was very worn I thought it looked too good to be fake. I nervously let them in. They went straight through to the back garden and were looking over the fence and even lifted a panel up. I actually locked the back door so they had to knock to get back through. They said that a colleague had managed to get through first from another garden so then they left. They seemed very nice, but like you I wasn't sure if I should let them in. I still think my two were genuine, but after reading these postings who knows!
  8. Great news, we have found the scooter!!!!!!! 6 weeks later we stumbled across it in Just Williams toy shop. The lovely ladies there had put it out back for us for all that time, thank you to them soooooo much. Anyway they said they have another scooter that someone else has left behind so if you or anybody you know is on the hunt tell them to go there. They wont hand it out to anyone though, they will ask you to describe it first!
  9. While we have the attention of all the yummy mummies out there, I'm going to be cheeky and ask one last time - Has anybody seen my daughters pink mini micro scooter with a sticker on the front of snow white with two little birds???? Please keep your eyes peeled everyone, there are only a few hours left before the forum goes down! If someone does find it while the forum is on holiday could you hand it in to Goodrich School, many thanks.
  10. Louisa, I'm sorry (and I don't mean that sarcastically) if I may have offended you or anybody else out there. I do take it for granted sometimes how lucky I am to even have kids. I don't know anything about you or your reasons for this thread, so I'm bailing out. Will enjoy all your other comments in the morning though! Goodnight everyone.
  11. I own a Bugaboo, shame on me. However, I've used it every day for the past 5 years so that works out at 27 pence per day, and I'm still using it with daughter number two, so I see it as a bargain! And how come Louisa even knows about pushchairs??????? Do I detect a little bit of green-eyed envy perhaps????
  12. Just for those who actually do care here are some details about the fire. There were in total 5 fire engines and one fire/van. It was an upstairs flat. The fire was started by an electrical fault in the roof space above the kitchen in the back of the house. The owners did get out safely. When I spoke to them on the night to offer my help they were hopeful that it was just the kitchen that had been damaged. I for one am going to get at least one more smoke alarm, double glazing hammers and maybe another fire extinguisher and look at my family's escape routes again.
  13. HELP! we've lost our little girls scooter in the Lordship lane area. It may have been on Northcross Road even as we headed up upland road etc. It was pink and in very good condition. It had a sticker, on the metal upright bit, of an old fashioned style Snow White (i think!) with two little birds. Has anyone found it? It was maybe even a month ago now, but our little girl is really upset. We'd be soooo grateful if someone has been looking after it for us and could contact us! Thanks.
