  1. Hi mmag,

are they on Rotary Tracks or wooden lathes/battens as they should all be fixable,I would willingly come and have a look but I do really need to know the above or if they are on a chain/necklace that would be a rotary track or cords are wooden lathes/battens.

  3. the only way you can blackout line a pair of eyelet curtains is to add the blackout lining under the eyelets by machine but you are wasting your money because they are eyelets the light will still come through the eyelets over the top and down the sides, also how much it would cost to line a pair of eyelets wouldnt be worth your while. have you thought about buying a blackout roller blind to go next to the window even though that will not give you total blackout it will be just as effective and a fraction of the price and instant.

  4. Hi, I do also make made to measure Cushion Cases, Bolsters, Bed Valances, Bedthrows etc. I am afraid I do not make Loose Covers as this is a Trade of its own.

Also as mention on my previous Thread I do offer a Curtain and Blind Making Service. I do make up your own fabric or can supply fabric as well. I will come and measure free of charge if preferred or work off your own measurements for a initial quote but I do prefer to do a final measure just to make sure all is ok so fitting goes smoothly. I can arrange for a fitter to fit your Curtains, Blinds, Tracks, Poles etc. Again I do have a small website if you would like to see a small example of my work.

I have attached a couple of pictures of my bedvalances etc.

  5. Hi

is it a soft or hard faux leather as you are very limited to what can be done with faux leather its usually used for upholstrey or bags etc, I have made them from faux leather 1 pair in eyelet and 1 pair in hand pinch pleat but you can not hand sew bottoms and they have to be machined.

  6. Hi Lorraine,

you do not mention whether that is the actual area you want to cover in all or if its just the measurements of the window which does make a difference i.e. what is the width of the track or pole and what is the overall height/length of the curtain. also does the fabric have a pattern repeat as this does make a difference as well on fabric quantities.

  7. Hi Gedge,

I dont know if you are still looking for someone to make your Roman Blinds, I am a Curtain/Blind maker and I will make up your own fabric or can supply fabric as well whatever way works best for you. I do have a small website "tradecurtains.co.uk" with a small sample of my work and the cost of a average price of a blind as well. I do offer a free measuring service and can also arrange for the blinds/curtains to be fitted as well as I do have my own fitters etc or I would willingly tell you how to fit them yourself if you want to. I have attached a couple of pictures of a Roman Blind I made recently and the customer fitted it himself as I explained how to and it was over 3mts wide as well. Obviously it was for a little girl's room and I think he done rather well fitting it.

  8. Hi, i am actually in the soft furnishings trade, i am afraid to say there used to be loads of lampshade makers around, I actually used to use the lady who made custom made ones for Peter Jones, John Lewis etc and I knew of a couple of others but she was the most reasonable priced one. A correctly made one is actually a work of art when you know how they are made as I have made a couple for myself, but its now really difficult to get the frames, the kit versions I have seen are usally more like blue peter but it all depends on what you are after. The reason no one is going into the trade anymore is because people just want a throw away society and they mostly imported now and as usual we cant compete with the labour costs, anyway to the point of why I answered a couple of years ago there used to be a lampshade maker in wimbledon and that is the only one I know of in london or the surrounding counties, I have had a few made up north but I dont know if the company is still in existance. If you are interested in a custom made one I would try googling lampshade makers wimbledon area as they are a very established company. roz- tradecurtains.co.uk

I do have a small website with a few examples of my work. The website is tradecurtains.co.uk if I can be of any use please get in touch. I do offer a free measuring service.
