  1. Hi, we are called Testcard F and we are playing our first gig (for more than 30 years!) at the Amersham Arms in New Cross, directly opposite New Cross station. Only £8 for 5 bands in total. Our synthpop stuff is a bit like Depeche Mode crossed with Sparks with a dash of OMD.

    Tickets available here:

    https://www.theamershamarms.net/6th-february/tickets

And here's our latest video shot in a house in ED. Do come down and say hello!

Just adding, this is Tuesday 6th Feb!

  2. Just spotted this on Peckham Rye at 8pm today, Mon 9th. It was on the tarmac path that runs from the bottom of Barry Road to the cafe. It was standing next to the second lamppost on the left. It seemed completely unfazed by joggers passing just inches away. It was also spotted by someone else on the thread about the Grey Parrot
  3. Hi pearl1. I just came to this page to report a bird I just spotted on Peckham Rye and it's the same one you saw. I saw it at 8pm today, Mon 9th. It was on the tarmac path that runs from the bottom of Barry Road to the cafe. It was standing next to the second lamppost on the left. It seemed completely unfazed by joggers passing just inches away.

No need to worry. A company operating in a business this lucrative will not hesitate to pass their good fortune on to the "engaging individuals, families or couples" who will form the raw material of their ad campaign, in the form of generous fees.

Well, I saw another of Stik's creations in Dulwich today. I'm no expert, but I suspect the inspiration was The Linley Sisters by Thomas Gainsborough. I could be wrong.

  6. I hate antisocial behaviour as much as the next person. But I must say I'm impressed with slims' response. A bit defensive at first but willing to explain himself and slip in a little apology. Maybe slims and Jaws can exchange PMs and perhaps get together over a cup of tea. They could discuss how what seems like normal behaviour to one is extremely annoying to the other. And vice versa.

Now if you'll excuse me I'll leave it there; I have to go and sort out the Middle East.

  7. You're absolutely right of course. Many media coal-face workers at the bottom end of the scale are treated appallingly in the indie sector; runners, researchers, asst producers - that kind of level. I think I was aiming my arrows of so-called "wit" at commissioning editors who earn 6 figures to decide that we want to see more property shows.
  8. They're making a TV show about property? Can't wait to see that! Some people dare to say that meeja types are lazy overpaid cokeheads with as much imagination as a wilting stalk of rhubarb. But it's news like this that restores one's faith in the television industry. When's it going to be on?
  9. I would urge everyone to watch the "making of" video just below the advert.

It's safe to assume that the brief was to show that interparcel.com offers a web-based door to door parcel delivery service which is more convenient than going to the post office.

So they film a bloke going to the post office in the rain. Then they cut to a bloke in the warm indoors who does the same job with his laptop using interparcel.com.

The number of "creatives" involved: 2.

It's people like this who are in danger of giving advertising a bad name.

  10. I trust you're referring to Stalin Wasn't Stallin'. Wyatt didn't write it. It was actually a cover version of a song by a wartime American gospel group who were praising Stalin for being on their side against the Nazis. I think he was making a point about selective memory and making alliances of convenience or something.

Or maybe he just thought it was a good tune. I only know this because it was played on 6Music a couple of weeks ago and I just had to look it up. Which is something that never happens when listening to Heart FM.

    Is this off-topic, btw?
