  1. We had a flat in East Dulwich and wanted to upgrade. We looked everywhere and by chance when cycling out to the country found this lovely place called West Wickham - half an hour from Dulwich. It's on the edge of the countryside but 10 mins by bus to Bromley. There are loads of houses coming on the market that need loads of work and they've all got huge gardens, garages and big rooms. Also the schools are really good.

It's a bit old at the moment but it's got a lovely community feel, a nice leisure centre, library and a Marks and Spencers food.

It's a real find and well worth a look.

  2. I got my money back as I just wouldn't relent. Every step I took, there was an obstacle. In the end, I sent freedom of information requests regarding the contracts between JBW and Southwark Council. As soon as I did that, I got my cheque COURIERED round to my flat. However they never sent this information.....

I sent the head of parking and the council emails every day.

I emailed [email protected] / [email protected] / [email protected]; [email protected]

However the council are pretty uninterested and will do little. It was the badgering of the bailiff firm which finally paid off.

I also got Tessa Jowell involved [email protected]

I went through the Northampton centre and filed an out of time declaration. They refused it. I appealed and wen to to county court at Brixton - won the appeal and then when they didn't pay me back (despite the court ruling) I badgered as I mentioned above.

  3. The man knocked on my neighbours door (she is in her 80's), asked to come inside her house and look at her furniture to see whether it was something he'd like to buy. He went inside her house and then offered her money to buy some items - unsure how much. I think it sounds dodgy and was just curious if this had happened to anyone else. She is completely unconcerned and thinks the man was genuine. I think it's odd.

I work from home and nobody knocked on my door, which makes me worried that she may have been targeted by someone because of her age.

  4. My cats chase the foxes in my garden. The foxes seem terrified of the cats and won't go near them and my cats are soft little cats - not aggressive cats. The cats are certainly in charge.

I was worried at first but so far the only thing that they seem to do is steal my shoes if I leave them near the back door. They all seem to have a terrible shoe fetish.

  5. Well done. I'm still going through the same process to get my cash back. I have been given the money back from the council but can't get the cash off the bailiffs (JBW Enforcements). I'm having to take them to the small claims courts. Well done Mona. I think you have probably played it better than me. I didn't go to a legal centre - I wrote the letters myself, which probably didn't help. Boo hoo. I'll probably never get my money back.
  6. FROM THE MET:

A murder inquiry is underway after a death in East Dulwich.

Police were called at approximatly 13:15hrs, on 22 February 2009, to a man shot in the street at Barry Road, SE22. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

We await formal identification but we are satisfied the victim is Larry Safie, aged 25, of east Dulwich. Next of kin has been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be held at Greenwich mortuary, at 16:00hrs, on 23 February.

Detectives from the Met's Operation Trident are investigating. They are appealing for anyone in the area around that time who may have seen anything suspicious, in particular a black man seen leaving the scene; he was about 5'10" tall and wore a black hooded top.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8247 4533 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
