Well, after five pages of debate... how was it?

Can anyone say how much they actually ended up paying, all in?

+1 for cycling. Just started and it really is easier than I thought it would be.

Perhaps it is because closing a door would make at least some noise, increasing the risk that they might be caught in the act.

I don't mind the Cherry Tree but I do think the burger is overpriced. There's nothing wrong with it but it doesn't include chips, whereas at the price point that it's at it really should. If the price of the burger was in line with that of the EDT, I'd eat here more often.

I've never had to queue that long, and off-peak you can often just walk straight in.

Does anyone here like playing pool (English) and needs a partner to play with? I love playing, but don't really have anyone in the area to play with. I've been to Canavan's in Peckham before, which does the job just fine. If anyone is interested in starting a pool club, post here / drop me a PM.

However, I really don't see why you are bothering even posting this. You got a ticket (which you wouldn't have had to pay anyway) and were subsequently let off. Stop the press!

I don't know how or why I ended up replying to a thread that was three years old! I can't even recall how I stumbled upon this thread. I feel slightly stupid!

OP, especially given that this suit is a different size to your other half's, it is bound to be returned to the dry cleaners - whoever has it will have no interest in keeping it and they will certainly want theirs back. Even if they do not notice for a while, they are bound to go back to the same dry cleaners (it sounds like they are a regular) with some different dry cleaning.

I would sit tight - you will get it back.

I speak with experience too - this happened to me with a dry cleaners in Islington.

It's possible that your neighbors don't know about this (hence the mattress is in the front garden) or perhaps they have left the mattress out pending collection (seems unlikely from your post).

I don't know whether this is something that I would do, but you could perhaps tell them about this service in the guise that you're just trying to be a helpful neighbor, rather than a complainant.

That's the guy. It's not good that they are knocking on people's doors past 9pm. I'm sure he's had worse this evening - including from me - so I am sure your car will be fine!

Sorry to bring up an old post, but I have just had a cold-caller (about 5 minutes ago, at 20:50) knock on my door on the Abbotswood Estate. He got as far as introducing himself as Jason from the Organisation for the Homeless before I told him 'it is way too late' - he then huffed and walked off without saying anything.

Anyone else had the same guy cold call them? Was he selling something?

It doesn't always work out like this. I arrived at the station the other day and there should have been a train to LB within 1-2 minutes of my arrival. I ended up waiting about 25 minutes and, even when one did turn up, it took longer than the 12 minutes to LB that it is meant to take - it was more like 20.

Net effect was that I was very late for my appointment.

To make it worse, I checked the trains before I traveled and there was nothing on the National Rail website or the phone app suggesting the trains were delayed.

Many responses gave you the same perfectly sensible answer - i.e. call the estate agent and ask them to collect it. After receiving said response, you then proceed to explain that the sign is old and ask:

"will they still come and get rid of it?"

Common sense dictates that it is the estate agent alone that can answer this question. Did you even bother to call them?

As for "whether this is the kind of thing the council might collect" - again, the council is best placed to answer this question. The Southwark Council allow something like 6 'bulky item' disposals per household per year. The collection can be organised on their website (you need to register on the website first). The website also states what the council will and will not take, e.g. the item must be no bigger than x etc.

I know you said you don't have access to tools to cut it down, but a small hacksaw can be ordered from Amazon for ?5.95. You would easily be able to cut it down with that; if it is too big for the council to take in its original state, then cut it up into smaller pieces.

It would also be pretty poor form on the part of the EA to refuse. A good EA will want to build relationships in the area in the hope of getting future business.

Hello all. Apologies for hijacking the thread momentarily.... are there any decent curry houses near Peckham Rye station? I've heard good things about ganapati, but we're not all that big on South Indian cuisine.

Does anyone have any news Re the lady's condition? From what I heard today, it's a bit premature to say she has survived.

Are we certain that the lady is dead? I spoke to someone outside the station who said she is alive but it was 'looking grim'. It's extremely sad.

Hello everyone!

My girlfriend and I will be moving to East Dulwich soon. We have not lived there before but have had an offer accepted on a house on Abbotswood Road.

Wondering if anyone can offer any thoughts on the area? Is that road a 'good' choice?
