  1. London Tree Stump Removal took out a tree stump and cut back a branch on a neighbours tree that was overhanging our garden. Too big for our tools A week from request for a quote to removal. I’d have no hesitation using them or recommending for any tree work they can do https://londontreestumpremoval.co.uk
  2. We went both when it was a cafe but have been more since it rebranded. Yet to try an evening but we’ve enjoyed all our lunches there. Can highly recommend the cold meze and a glass of wine for a light lunch for 2 at under £20 per head. We found the grilled meat disappointing but most restaurants have dishes that don’t please. Plenty else to choose from. Service has always been friendly. We’ve seen them more than happy to help someone up that big step - the only negative and not something they put in. We’ll be back.
  3. Not quite East Dulwich but a bus ride away and some classes/events that might be of interest. https://wthcommunityspace.com/events

  4. The step means Love Dulwich is not disabled friendly though they went to help someone on crutches up the step last time we were there much prefer it as a Turkish than café but maybe not for this group The noise level might be an issue as it’s all hard surfaces though I don’t recall it being noisy. check out Olivelli the menu has a good range though it’s not the best Italian you can get. There’s also a step up into Maria’s - much smaller but you need to negotiate the step and door at the same time. Olivelli has more room and if I remember right the toilets are on the ground floor. A consideration if steps are an issue The Lordship might be an option. Noise is not usually an issue. We’ve enjoyed various meals there. The ladies toilets are on the same floor as the tables (the gents may be upstairs). The staff are always friendly
  5. Highly recommend Dulwich Eco Gardening. When he came to quote Saied said he’d give our garden back so we could decide what we do next. Under two weeks of hard work from Saied and Mo and we have the garden back and can see paving I’d forgotten about. Not only did Saied remove our very overgrown greenery. Nature had taken over. He also took back to our fence line overgrown ivy, apple and pear trees and and dealt with a neighbours bamboo that had invaded our garden. We are now going to get quotes for what we do next so those quoting will be able to see the space. Saied has suggested someone to quote and will be coming back when he does in case he has any questions or they can work together. I thought Saied would be a good choice and he was. Quotes from others didn’t leave me with confidence for the end result. That was never a concern with Saied.
  6. There isn’t a map for the Go Jauntly walk - I added that. I plan to update it now the weather is getting warmer but haven’t yet. Part of the reason for adding it was that I couldn’t find a map. Not going to help but Dulwich Festival will be doing a walk so might be worth asking them.
  7. An idea if you are looking for something to do. I’ve visited and have just come across this again. Vauxhall City Farm is a farm in London where we can see the animals the packaged meat in the supermarket comes from. Entrance is free, a donation of £4 is requested Looking for a present you can adopt an animal - support the farm and the person you gift it to will get 3 lots of food to feed on visits. The 50th Anniversary Appeal is currently running so they can do the farm up and hopefully give the animals a home and people the chance to see them for another 50 years. If you want to donate here’s the link https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/growthenext50years

  8. Pugwash the launderette service is new but not the shop. Alpine Dry Cleaners now offer that service
  9. Apologies if this has already been posted but I didn’t find anything. The Victoria resignalling affects East Dulwich next week. It’s planned for half term, but if you intended to take the train you’ll need to make other arrangements. https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/our-routes/sussex/london-victoria-track-and-signalling-upgrades/ If anyone was thinking the Overground from Denmark Hill would be an alternative route when there are no trains through East Dulwich next week it won’t. No Overground from Denmark Hill all week. Thameslink still seem to be running at Denmark Hill.
  10. Soup anyone? Is it just me or did it go from not needing a coat to needing a coat in days? I’m going to put a tin of soup or a box of cup a soup (Sainsburys get better reviews than a well known brand) in my shop each time and at the end of the month donate them all to the Albrighton. Alternatively, and I know views differ on this, you could put it into a customer collection box at the supermarket. Anyone got a soup maker or slow cooker sitting in a cupboard bought with good intentions but not used or bought for a child going to university? From the post above if it’s clean and working the Albrighton could PAT test it and find a new home for it. You’d get space back and be giving the person receiving it future hot meals. Whichever way it will reach someone that needs it.
  11. I’ve put this in the General ED forum but my be those on here who don’t read that You can hire tools from the Library of Things. They offer Concession Membership. Worth looking at if you need a tool they have but won’t use one enough to justify buying one. Although Southwark Council have been running this for a year I’ve only just seen it. Thought it might be of interest https://www.libraryofthings.co.uk
  12. Not sure if this is for here or the Lounge so admin please move if it shouldn’t be here. You can hire tools from the Library of Things. They offer Concession Membership. 13. I’ve just signed a petition that affects the local area. Although not East Dulwich I use the shops and some others may too. Southwark Council is asking for a 143% increase in rent for the shops. Take a look and sign if you agree. https://chng.it/RwCxNH6GT4
  14. I agree with the OP this is an independent restaurant that deserves support. You’ll need to be quick to visit before their summer holidays. In true Italian style they are on holiday from 29 July to 29 August. I’m reluctant to put this on here but I can only think people haven’t tried it as it’s not busier. We went before it changed hands from 500 degrees to Due Fratelli. For us it’s now the best pizza in East Dulwich. There are other things on the menu too. There’s also a “garden” at the back. Outdoor seating away from the road. Pizza and a beer for 2 for £40. Staff are always friendly and happy to add toppings to the pizzas. Give it a try - it’s not a chain and to those who say East Dulwich has enough places that do pizza I’d say it’s the best of the restaurants, they do take away if that’s what you want though we’ve not seen any delivery drivers doing a collection.
