  1. I put my house on the market about 5 weeks ago. I have had about 7 viewings. Pretty much all of them came back and said they were unprocedable as they had a property to sell. Estate agents then said I should lower the price after about a week!! But I am not sure whether it is a bit early to do that, especially as I went with the price they said initially. I totally accept that I won't get my full asking price and am happy to lower if necessary but can't keep lowering every few weeks. Also I think if people are interetsed they will try their luck at a cheeky offer and then I can take a view. Not stupid know I need to be flexible. Getting a bit disheartened with the estate agents as I think they are so unused to this market they don't seem to know whether they are coming or going!.
  2. I have to say I drive there as it is by far the quickest way and I tend to have to be there pretty early so usually can get there within 20 mins that way especially at the moment as seems much quieter on roads withe everyone on holiday. However, when I do get the train I do the London Bridge route which is fine depending on how the jubilee line decides to behave that day....I have also done the 185 to Lewisham before but it did seem to take a lot longer than London Bridge.
  3. I have just been to have a look at them. They were vey nice (a lot better thought out than those futher up Dog Kennel Hill overlooking Sainsburys which were tiny and had the most bizarre lay out in the living area). The only problem with the ones by the station is that they do back directly onto the railway line and I don't know how noisy they would get.....Very pleasantly surprised as the 2 beds had 2 huge bathrooms and reasonable sized bedrooms although the view from the front not the most exciting over the back of the shops and the Vale! Very busy when I went so I guess they will go pretty sharpish.
  4. We haven't actually been there with ours yet, but def could be a potential venue for a future meeting. Generally end up in someone's house or garden in the summer or the Bishop! Yes Time traveller was excellent. really different and read yesterday in the Standard that they are indeed making a film of it so we were ahead of the game in our book club!
  5. We have a book club going in ED. Not terribly formal or intellectual. We tend to drink a lot of wine and discuss who would best play the parts if they made a film of the book. But good books we have read recently include: Time Travellers Wife by Audrey Niffenberger Woman in White by Wilkie Collins The Go Between by LP Hartley
  6. I have to say I work in Canary Wharf and drive there. Having worked there for years and suffered the nightmares of the jubilee line being down and trying to therefore negotiate the DLR when everyone tries to pile on this, I have resorted to using my car. Just wanted to say have been reading this forum for ages and whilst have not posted anythng before have found it incredibly useful and entertaining especially the number of posts about Landells road as I live on it. Just been scared to write anything before!!!
