Suggest you get come Correx eg from an old estate agents sign and cut it into 50mm wide strips. Then get some carpet tacks (15mm long)

Push the carpet tacks into and through the Correx at 25mm intervals so that the sharp ends stick upwards. Then attach the strip to the top of your fence where it is lowest. It  doesnt injure them. It just makes it uncomfortable for them and they soon learn.

thanks! i was thinking how to create the spiked things myself as have seen some online but expensive once you calculate how much you need!

Vinegar seems to work. A few years ago we had a real fox problem, and I was told human urine is good. Thing is, it smells and seems you need a lot of it. Some vinegar along your perimeter should help. They've hundreds of other gardens to prowl.

how often do you spray it ? there is a lot of fence and i feel like they don't walk up to our garden - they generally just jump/fly in without really checkig it out beforehand

  3. Our back garden slopes downwards at a steep incline. A 6foot fence panel can be 2foot lower than the preceding one where they meet. It’s a nightmare for keeping out foxes etc. what are the rules for how high you are allowed to go with fence or trellis or nets / wire fences ? Thanks !

  4. We used David for repairs to a front bay window as well as guttering on the bay and on roof. He was very helpful and timely beforehand and then punctual, helpful and hardworking on the day. All work carried out to a high standard, to the spec and we have had no problems since. Will definitely  use again.

  5. looks good - thanks for doing this

one question - can I reduce the size of the banner across the top ? its approx 1/3 on the screen on my laptop. and font size as well to fit more topics in per page ?

  6. We have used Mark Newlove on 07971 824 567 at New Gas Boilers a number of times now and have always been very impressed.

They have sorted out issues with underfloor heating, motorised vales and installing Nest thermostats.

This last week they condemned our boiler after another plumbers (emergency call out when NGB weren't available) bodged attempts at replacing a fan led to gas and CO leaks in our family home. They then fitted a new boiler and made sure rest of system was all as it should be.

Polite, punctual and fully accredited. Can strongly recommend.

  7. Hi there

I have decided to get my children vaccinated against Chicken Pox (a friend of mine has just come out of hospital after being very poorly with it) and have found it quite difficult to find anywhere that will do it so thought I'd post details of the South London Travel Centre in Camberwell as I know there have been numerous posts on this.

Cost is ?65 a vaccine and you need 2 doses.

Medicentre at Victoria Station used to offer vaccine but they have lost their paediatrician so no longer doing it; the London Paediatric Group on Harley Street does it but there is only one consultant doing vaccines so hard to get an appointment; there is another place on Harley Street www.childrensimmunisation.com but you need to pay ?50 a child to even register when them, then pay a lot more than ?65 for each vaccine.

  8. I have suffered from recurrent mastitis (had it for the whole 7 months that I breastfed my first son) and Fluclox was definitely the best antibiotic for me - a breast consultant prescribed it for me and I had to take it every day for months. Also Diclofenac acid for the pain (ibuprofen and paracetamol didn't come close for me).

    Good luck!

  9. My husband organised for a stylist to come and spend the day with me on Sunday (total surprise). After having our second son a year ago I have been constantly moaning about my wardrobe (never having anything to wear, lots of clothes no actual outfits, i'm rubbish at colour, blah blah) and I think he got so bored of it he arranged for Lucy, a stylist, to come and sort it out once and for all.

Lucy turned up at 8.45am and we went through my wardrobe together. We went through every item and she advised me on what colours and styles suit me. We threw out at least half of my wardrobe (all the usual whim/panic buys included) and then she drove me in to town to go shopping to buy items of clothing that would match the items left (vests and t-shirts in the right colours, jacket and shoes to go with all my dresses etc etc). She then drove me home and took me through some outfits. She offered to go through some hair and make up tips but I was totally shopped out and ready to collapse with a take away!

Anyway I thought I'd post on here as it was so much fun and so useful. She charges ?500 for a full day which is pricey but then worked to our shopping budget. She took me to Gap, Zara and Selfridges (so no pricey designers) and I came away with so SO many pieces and now have a whole new wardrobe. She told me she spends 3 whole days a week shopping and this made it so easy and efficient - she knew exactly where we were going, what she was looking for, and where it was in each shop. Amazing.

Keen to pass on her details if anyone is interested! I wouldn't hesitate to use her again for advice on an outfit, having my make up done or something.

  10. Is it still definitely running? I emailed the organisers a while back but never received a reply, and haven't heard it mentioned over the last few months....

I know there have been quite a few threads recently with regards classes and activities for babies and toddlers in the area but I am still seriously struggling to fill our time (I have a 2.5 year old and a 9 month old). We have done most of the classes at some time or another but the 2.5 year old doesn't seem to enjoy them anymore and most of them are only 30 - 45 minutes long which just isn't enough!

I tried to attend the Goose Green playgroup this morning. I arrived at 10.05am to find that it was full - spoke to the organiser and she said that people queue from 9am (?!) to get in. I'm not sure I can queue for an hour with a screaming toddler and baby every week?!

It's so frustrating! All my NCT friends have gone back to work and it's just so hard to meet people! Moan/rant over!

  11. Fidgetsmum definitely don't buy a P&T if your daughter is tall as chances are your next one will be as well. My 11 week old baby is long for his age and has been far too long for the newborn bit of the P&T pretty much since birth - it's so annoying. My first son who's nearly 2 isn't tall for his age and he's already getting too big for the toddler seat too - he can't sleep in it when it's in the recline position as his head is slammed at an angle. I phoned P&T for advice on both issues, their response was that "they could only design buggies for the average length child" and that the toddler seat in the newborn set up "wasn't designed to reclined beyond the age of 1 year". How many of their customers have a newborn and a toddler (baby) under the age of 1?! Grr.

I bought the P&T as everyone seems to have them so thought they must be a good bet?!
