  1. Cracking in house wall. Mainly along one side, rising up through floors. We're mid-Victorian terrace.

Already had full checks for subsidence, drains, trees etc. and we know that the weather in the last few years hasn't been 'helpful' for cracks. We need to rent the house out so to ensure it was fixed 'for good' prior to decorating have removed render and found what can only be called 'a wall likely built by a blind orangutan with a stick, when very drunk'. Thanks, Victorians!

The current situation is we're helibarring and meshing and replacing main gaps and broken bricks. Need an eye to say whether we need to do anything else. We don't have much money nor time.

Recommendations please for anyone you've used who might be able to squeeze a super fast visit in. We have ALL the info they may need.

    Thanks

  2. Would like recommendations from customers of builders who worked on minor structural (or major) works. We have a wall that requires installation of helibars, plasterboard and then plastering. There are a couple of other bits around the house, but that's the main job. We have had the same builders work with us for a few years but they're very very busy and we need to see if we can speed up our process as we're moving out.

No businesses contacting direct please - really want recommendations from customers.

Thanks everyone - hoping you can help!

  3. We used [email protected] (who we found through the forum). He was fantastic. Husband and I both lost our fathers last year and have dealt with their wills. All I can say is getting a professional to write precisely what you need is absolutely worth it, for your family to experience minimal hassle at a difficult time.
  4. A bunch of us on Bellenden have had this happen recently. Very annoying. Our car is quite literally a rubbish tip so they had to search through all sorts to find there was nothing in there. No sign of breaking in to any of our cars, so we think the signal was cloned. Not really sure what to do about it as the car is 10 years old. Just keep nothing in it, other than the rubbish (obvs).
  5. I managed to get a pair of perfect (brand new!) shoes for an outing at St Christophers Hospice shop. They are very pink. And I need them either dark purple or dark grey. Or black if I completely c*** this up.

The sole is leather but the top bit that goes around your foot says it's textile on the shoe's website. So it's not satin, leather, nubuck or anything like that but how on earth can I try to dye these?

Anyone got any experience of vaguely successfully doing this themselves or is there somewhere I could take them?

  6. Hi

Myself and three lovely neighbours are looking for a cleaner to come on a weekly basis (weekdays only). We all live within 20 yards of each other on Bellenden Road and we are each looking for 3 hours. So perhaps it might work for someone with kids at school? 6 hours a day for two days? Once you're here, there's no travel time between houses obviously! Usual duties of hoovering, dusting, kitchens, floors, bathrooms etc. Perhaps some ironing if there's not a lot of cleaning to do?

Anyway. If you are someone, or you know someone, who has work experience as a cleaner and for whom the above logistics might work, please PM me.

    And thanks in advance!

  7. We (my daughter) absolutely loves Sydenham High Junior School. I think, in the end, you have to go on feel. We visited them all and had a number of offers. But we chose in the end where we felt most comfortable and where our daughter seemed most comfortable on the assessment days. And she's thriving there. No disrespect to DUCKS and St Dunstans as I hear great things about them too, but the feel was right at Sydenham and we haven't once been disappointed in the last 3 years that she's been there. Good luck! It's not easy!
