The council did reply to my email quite quickly and said they would discuss it with the team… I suggested end of day collection or lockable shared bins at the top of each side road. No reply to that yet.

I have managed to work out the date to the best of my knowledge and have filed a report. The tone of the interactions here has reminded me why I had not been on EDF for so long. Too many people seem to spend their time on here to gain pleasure from being contrary, judgemental, accusatory and unkind.

Do you think it’s possible they aren’t present? I think you are probably right that bin location is an issue. But the current system is not working.

Whilst I’ve lost a few nights sleep to the teenage foxes fighting, playing etc under my window… they help keep rats at bay so it’s a trade off I am willing to accept. Grey squirrels and rats are much more of a concern to me. Horrible.

I was threatened at about 8.30am when heading to work one weirdly quiet morning a few weeks ago as I was crossing by Oliver bonas at the same time as the man. He was maybe late 40s dressed fairly scruffy but not in a stand out way. Unprovoked he said he would ‘knock me out’ and then kept pointing back at me to let me know he was watching me as he headed towards goose green roundabout. It really shook me up as there was no one else around. I am a woman in her late 30s

Hi All, Apologies if there have been other threads about this. I am really concerned and quite scared about vermin for those of us that live close to the high street. I know they are something we have to accept to an extent but it feels like they are currently being given a welcome and easy ride…I have recently sent the below email to Southwark council, if you feel the similarly I’d encourage you to do the same… [email protected] if you have suggestions of others I can be in touch with please let me know… Dear Southwark Council, I live at xxxx and am seriously concerned about the way commercial shop and restaurant waste is managed on Lordship Lane high street. Most businesses put their rubbish out on the pavement at the end of the day in Southwark bin bags, which are collected the following morning. Most mornings they have been ripped open by vermin (rats and foxes) with food waste across the pavements and a slick of oily stains. For those of us that live close to the high street there is a hygiene concern about the state of the pavements and the rats in our gardens and potentially entering and damaging our homes and cars and as well as the risks of illness. Please advise if you will be reviewing the arrangements to move to a bin system to help with the issue?? Particularly in light of this news on the vast increase of rats in our cities: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gvk397j80o All best, Xxxx

Hi there, Does anyone know what the situation is with Dulwich Constitutional Club. Closed for some time. If there are any plans for it? or who owns it? Best, HJT32

I am not looking to 'win' people over. I shouldn't have to, that is not my personal responsibility. I am angry and sad. In order to help, if that is something you are interested in, you will need to stop being so defensive and diversionary.

I take your point that the first sentence was clunky and I have now edited to be clearer. I hope that helps.

So not only do I have to endure the fear, harassment and misogyny that goes with being a woman, but you want me to provide a reading list as well? The burden of education should be on men, not women. But since you asked so nicely, i did a google search for you: https://www.irishtimes.com/culture/books/books-that-every-man-should-read-as-recommended-by-women-writers-1.2807403 https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/02/how-to-be-good-man-me-too-month-reading-feminist-classics https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/books/g35408475/best-feminist-books/ https://www.nypl.org/books-more/recommendations/essential-feminism/adults https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/mar/17/the-time-for-men-to-step-up-is-right-now-what-all-men-can-do-to-help-end-violence-against-women

You know when you click on a thread and then wish you had never read it because it has been started by someone who has no interest in understanding. Anyone who did would go away and do the reading, do the work. Not antagonise a bunch of strangers into commenting on a flawed premise. It is all male violence. Stop trying to take attention away from male violence against women. Your agenda here is to falsely equate the issues when their causes are not the same. If you will insist on making a comparison, compare to the rates of female violence against men or male sexual violence against men. But I have no idea why any comparisons need to be made, they are all awful. It is not a competition. END MALE VIOLENCE. CALL OUT MISOGYNY.

A friend of mine founded Hypha Studios and has organised some fantastic projects. They have recently sent out this communication so I thought I would share in case theres anything local we can suggest. It would be great to have more artists using these empty spaces, particularly on the high street. They have to host community programming/open studios as part of the deal. "We started Hypha Studios because of the abundance of free space due to all the vacancies on the high street, and the number of artists that required it. It made no sense that artists shouldn't use this space, for free, while bringing culture and public programming to our doorsteps, UK wide. We want to serve you and your local community. Artists always have their eye on a unit that they think they could use or perhaps you're a local that wants spaces to be activated. If this sounds like you, submit your empty sites via our website or link in bio. We will reach out to the landlords and see if we are able to open these sites up for cultural use. We have a ton of opportunities coming up which we can't wait to share with you, but in the mean time, please work with us to support artists and bring culture to your neighbourhood instead of empty shops." Suggestions for them to investigate can be made here: https://hyphastudios.com/submit-empty-properties
