  1. That's fantastic, mima08. Thanks so much for your support. Hope you enjoy it.
  2. Thanks Alan, that's made me smile!
  3. Just released my debut novel, The Sleeping Warrior, which is set partly in East Dulwich and partly on the Isle of Arran - after the eponymous mountain range. Although it can be described as an urban fantasy, it is really a crime thriller with a very subtle fantasy/paranormal element woven into the narrative. Anyone interested in reading it can get more information here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00E7B02HE I grew up on East Dulwich Grove and went to school on Homestall Road. I wanted to set my book here, partly because of the fond memories and partly because I don't think anyone has ever included East Dulwich in fantasy fiction. It's set at a time when the police station is closing down but I've deliberately fabricated the inside of the building: don't want to get into trouble with the Met. I would love to return to do a book launch on Lordship Lane, but that will depend upon the amount of interest I can pull in over the next month or so. Best wishes to all. Sara Bain
  4. Nothing appears to be built to last these days, i*rate. Thanks for the history. I remember Lordship Lane BEFORE they built the police station. Moved out in the mid-80s and have only been back a couple of times since then, but not for at least 15 years. Chez Nico had just opened its doors and was getting good reviews, even though the locals didn't believe that a French bistro could ever compete with the local chippy on the corner of Matham Grove!
  5. Thanks Anastasia. Might have to move the action to Peckham now, since East Dulwich PS is firmly shut for business. I'll keep you posted.
  6. I used to live in East Dulwich Grove. Think my old house is now a boy's school. Lordship Lane went through radical changes in the '80s. I hear it's now a gourmet's playground. Is the East Dulwich Tavern still there?
  7. Thanks for the replies. I doubt very much whether I would recognise Lordship Lane anymore.
  8. Shared on Facebook and Twitter. Brilliant.
  9. Can anyone tell me if East Dulwich Police Station is now closed and, if not, when it is expected to close? I grew up in East Dulwich and remember when they built it. Haven't been back for many years but I'm writing a book that features the station and want to get things right. Thanks
