  1. Having had some useful recommendations on this forum for traders, I wanted to share one we've just used.

We've just had a really good job done by John Casey and family team at SkyDweller Ltd on our front garden. They built a new path and paved section and refreshed the rest of the area with new edging. The quote was competitive, they worked to a high standard and fast using quality materials and were tidy afterwards. Their work has a 5-year guarantee.

His number is 07931 449647 and they also have lots of positive reviews on myBuilder (where I found them) and TrustaTrader.com

  2. No pasta, rice or tinned tomatoes on Friday but then it's hard to know with DKH Sainsburys whether it's people panic buying or just their standard sporadic approach to stock management. At least us locals are used to visiting this store and seeing empty shelves!
  3. I need a very large cabinet (96kg) lifting onto the base unit which is about 87cm high. It?s already next to it so a very fast job for a small, strong team. This is at least a two man job. I can send pictures if required. I?m looking to get this done ASAP.

    Any recommendations/quotes please?

    Thanks, Helen

  4. Can anyone recommend where I can get a paid flu jab in East Dulwich or Herne Hill and the cost please? I don?t qualify for an NHS one. One chemist in Herne Hill said it was ?19.95 which seemed quite steep compared to what places like Boots charge. I?d prefer to get it done locally if possible. Thanks!
  5. We have an old pond with a broken liner and pump that we'd like to mend and update. Any suggestions please as to who to go to for quotes? Lots of garden people don't seem to want to touch ponds apart from to fill them in!

Thanks very much for any suggestions.

  6. Another vote of support for Hamish and his team. They worked on our ash tree a couple of times over the years and even handled negotiations with the council when we decided to remove it. He quoted a very reasonable price, did a great job on schedule and was very tidy and respectful of the garden and other plants. He also gave us some good advice about our other small tree.

The only very slight delay was him organising to collect his payment which probably shows was a decent bloke he is!

  7. My mum recently bought some kind of track from a charity shop for my nephew. It came in a bag with no label but we worked out it clips together so cars can go round it.

We'd like to get some more as it seems good stuff and we could make longer tracks (we might even get round to letting my nephew have a go!) but have no idea what it's called so where to start looking! We took a few of the attached pictures...

Does anyone recognise it so I can start searching ebay etc?! Thanks!

  8. Hi Nic,

Thanks for your feedback - no, we're definitely not in a listed building. The extension would not be visable from the street but I've noticed from the Southwark Planning section of their site based on similar applications, they will still have some considerable input so would be good to have as much info as possible in the early stages before we waste time planning something that has no chance of approval.

Can you PM your company details please?

    Thanks!

  9. We're thinking about doing a rear ground floor extension and all advice/recommendations would be very gratefully received.

Our terraced house is in the Dulwich Estate and also now a conservation area so subject to more than the usual restrictions. We're interested to do a small single story ground floor extension and wondered if anyone has any advice about going about this, i.e. good builders, architects and getting approval from Southwark to proceed.

Anyone care to share good (or bad!) experiences?

    Thanks very much

  10. If anyone can solve this mystery, it would be a hugely appreciated.

My cousin's little girl has lost her favourite small plastic robot - pic attached. She bought it at a car boot sale 2 years ago so they have no idea where it's from. Perhaps it's part of a toy set? She used to take it to bed every night so they are desperate to replace it. Any ideas where it's from so we can track down another one?

Thanks if you have any ideas, clues...

  11. More a North Dulwich issue but I was wondering who 'Naked Martin' is and why his name is written in big capitals on the boards outside the house next to St Faith's Church on Red Post Hill? Any ideas?
