Just to say that I know that ADS have had great reviews on here but maybe don't use their online booking form...apparently only checked 4 times a day. Was booking from abroad so free WiFi better than calling. Live and learn I s'pose!

Saf is nice actually, had forgotten about it. Used to work round the corner and went there several times. Cocktails are good and food is well-presented. It's vegan and I think they work under the raw food concept, so if your Ma loves her dairy then she may not like it. But if she's been veggie for years then I'm sure she'll be happy - it's def something a bit different. Would agree with atmos though, it's a bit minimalist and service can be a bit too cool for school.

On Vanilla Black portions, my boyfriend says he was hungry afterwards but he's a big old meat eater. I loved what I ate and it was great to get some imaginative food for once - no pasta/risotto in sight!

Forgot to say that one of my good mates raves about Manna in Primrose Hill too but have never been so can't vouch personally - sounds good though.

nice for a celebration or Carnavale on Whitecross St in the City for a less formal setting. Otherwise The Gate in Hammersmith. There are quite a lot of posh Micelin places with veggie tasting menus now but obv depends on howuch you want to spend!

Barry, not that I wish to sound like this is my pet peeve or anything but there was an incident yesterday at the now notorious P. Rye barriers that left me infuriated. Just for the record, I don't want to moan aimlessly about the station or local rail services - they're usually pretty good and this idea to get direct feedback from passengers will probably get you a knighthood. It certainly deserves to. Anyway...

Like the honest citizen I am, I bought my ticket from the machine (4:40pm yesterday, long queues, one window, you know the drill) and walked over to the barrier. Some bloke asked me if he could follow me through the barrier as he didn't have a ticket. I said I didn't think so, perhaps he should ask the guy manning the barriers. He didn't and just tailgated through after me. He then bolted up the steps never to be seen again. I looked round at the guy manning the barriers and all he did was just stand there shaking his head having seen the whole thing.

What are the staff on the barriers actually supposed to do? Admittedly, I wouldn't be prepared to get a smack in the chops/spat at/abused by unruly non-paying customers (though there was no evidence to suggest this would have happened) if I was doing that job so I can see why the guy would want to keep a low profile but are they really just supposed to ignore fare dodging when they see it? It rather sends the message that it is acceptable for all of us to just vault over the barriers when we can't be bothered to pay or queue for a ticket.

Just to say that I ate at Hisar at the weekend, my first visit. It was delish, particularly the beetroot salad and vine leaves. Also liked the smoky pitta. We had loads of food, it cost us ?20 and the service was friendly. I shall be returning!
