Hi, Does anyone know of any local reading groups who might be interested in looking at a new book by a local author?
The novel is GEORGE VALENTINE'S RETIREMENT PLAN by Laurence Cooper, published this month by Strathmere Press and Matador and in stock locally at Chener Books as well as available on Amazon in paperback and on kindle.
It's a tale of scandal and skulduggery in Westminster and beyond with conspirators based in SE22 and scenes in Peckham Rye, One Tree Hill, Honor Oak and elsewhere. It's set in summer and very topical given all that's happening with Coulson, Brookes etc. I'd be very happy to attend a group discussion, give a talk etc if wanted.

GEORGE VALENTINE'S RETIREMENT PLAN - THE PLOT
The blurb goes like this ...'From their South London home, George and Dorothy Valentine dig up dirt for divorces, corporate battles and political smear campaigns. They?ve decided to retire after their next case and when their last mark turns out to be the Home Secretary, George dreams of a grand finale while Dot fears disaster. Chaos rules as George?s retirement plan unravels and his maverick family must pit their wits against an oligarch, a Bulgarian hitman and the Albanian sex trade - as well as the Westminster elite.'
THEMES explore the nature of personal image and corruption set in contemporary London, touching on related subjects including media spin, cosmetic surgery, celebrity and reality TV. Rock nostalgia provides a subsidiary comic theme and counterpoint.
