  1. Well done Councillor McAsh for standing up in front of this angry mob, he was one of the few sensible people in the room. His calm and reasoned responses were well presented in very hostile circumstances. Several people asked 'why this was happening?' and clearly hadn't understood the problem that was trying to be solved. The attached document 'Foreword' section summarises the overall problem clearly and concisely. I'm sure that there are many more people that would have spoken up in favour of the plans if the meeting hadn't degenerated into an angry shouting match (I say match but of course all the shouting was in one direction), it would take a brave person to stand up to that. Through all the shouting I didn't actually hear anything sensible or constructive from the opposition, what is their solution to the problem?

  2. These guys are doing a great job, if you don't like it then I suggest you go elsewhere

Disappointing format, cumbersome, slower than previous version

    Sometimes simple is best.

Shame that 20+ days worth of posts have been "lost"

Going home for the weekend thread not working.

Some warning that this was going to happen over the weekend would have been nice.

  3. You need to negotiate serious money off your original offer if you really love the house, most people would run scared of any movement and will impact your price should you ever want to sell. It is possible to insure (At a cost) but that house will always be worth less than an identical house without any signs of movement. It is a buyers market, use that to your advantage
  4. That's standard construction. A modern building built with concrete and steel will be far sturdier than a period property built with shallow foundations and bricks. The brick cladding is just for aesthetic reasons. The depth of the brick tiles allows for far more insulation. It is a fantastic idea in my view. Modern construction techniques whilst retaining some character. You will find far more problems with Victorian properties built on clay around here
  5. Hi

Each week I buy new beddi g plants, each week they get eaten completely-sometimes just over night. I've tried nemaslugs but this doesn't seem to work on heavy clay. I don't want to use slug pellets for obvious reasons, anyone else had success her to g rid of them?

    Thanks

    Paul

  6. Hi

I work full time in a firm of Chartered Accountants, FCA qualified with 18 years experience. We have a 17 month old baby and I am starting to look for private work so that I can be more flexible around childcare. Happy to pop round for a chat to see what you need.

    Cheers

  7. It is true that it is very easy to complete online yourself, a good accountant however will know all the tax rules and may be able to save you some money. HMRC will not make it obvious how to save tax, they will clearly be looking to maximise what they get
  8. Hi

We have about 11m of mahogany handrail that has been stripped back to bare wood and filled. It was in a poor condition so a lot of filler was used. We need someone to colour match the filler and finish coat the handrail with either French polish or varnish (advice welcome). This would probably suit a furniture restorer used to patching in wood. Can anyone help or recommend someone?

    Please call Paul on 07739576904
