There is one in Catford on Mondays if that's not too far for you. Not sure what ages etc but it should be for primary kids.

Maybe local library? I suppose it depends what he would like to do in the future. Is his school not able to help him with this?

just wanted to say that there is a nice club where you can learn Spanish alongside your kids on Saturday mornings. It runs in Sydenham. This is really nice and friendly class, where you can get your children to learn Spanish regardless of whether you are Spanish speaking family or not. It is really fun and interactive with loads of learning through play and singing plus art. It is supposed to be for toddlers but kids can be much older than that. And the best thing is that siblings go free. My son really loves the class and he is really interested in what is happening during the class and asks what words mean. It is much more fun than standard classes and far cheaper as well. There is also Spanish book library so you can lend books and read at home. The class also comes with a CD with Spanish songs and my kids started singing some Spanish songs.

The name is Bienvenidos and they are now looking for parents to join them for the autumn term.

There is sth like TeachSport in Lewisham for up to 14 years old but not sure up to what age really they have the majority of kids there. Sth like Community Sports could be both Lewisham.and Southwark. It is worth checking xouncil website for info as well.

Does anyone know of Spanish classes in Dulwich area, which are held after school and not on Saturday as we are already busy on Saturday. Also if they are affordable that would be great. Cannot really afford private tuition. Or maybe a Spanish speaker who feels confident to teach would like to do a class for once a week to two children for a reasonable price to last 30-45 minutes?

Can someone enlighten me as I am not really into secondary schools yet. Does this mean that they will open another private secondary leaving the working class parents and their kids in already oversubscribed community secondary schools?

thanks for all your answers. I see that the size does not matter. I think that my child should be able to find friends and adjust if not at first then with time. Your answers are really helpful.

What is your experiencw on larger than average primary schools like 600 pupils? It is better resourced than the small local one but is it not too overwhelming for children. Are better facilities like access to music wrap around care and more after school clubs worth it or is it better to go for a smaller school without these?

It seems like it might be something connected with the gut. Have a look at GAPS diet.
