  1. Hello, I'm a local Physics teacher and examiner (previously at Alleyn's for 14 years) and I'm running A Level Physics revision sessions over the February half-term for Year 13 students. Each morning we work through a complete past paper together in a small group — maximum 10 students so everyone can ask questions. **Dates:** 16–19 Feb (Mon–Thu), 11am–1pm **Format:** Online via Zoom **Cost:** £40 per session — choose the days you need **Daily topics:** Mon — Mechanics & Materials Tue — Electricity, Waves & Quantum Wed — Further Mechanics, Fields & Particles Thu — Thermodynamics, Radiation, Oscillations & Cosmology We use Edexcel International papers for their clear module structure, but the exam technique and core physics applies across AQA, OCR and all boards. I've had some lovely feedback from families in the area: Best teacher ever — helped my A Level understanding to the point so I gained a place to study Financial Maths at university.— Milo, Year 13 Student Kate is a gifted teacher who has always made physics interesting and fun. She is full of energy and so supportive. I highly recommend her. — Year 13 Parent, Dulwich Thanks for you excellent tutoring with my daughter over the summer. Having struggled with physics over the last year in just a few sessions her confidence and interest in physics has 100% turned around — Salma, Parent I'm Enhanced DBS checked, indemnity insured, and hold a first-class degree in Physics from Bristol. Happy to have a chat if you'd like to discuss whether it's a good fit for your child — 07925 197752. Booking and more info: www.physicswithkate.com/alevelrevision-page Thanks, Kate
  2. This is the second year that I have run this revision course of year 12 topics for my year 13 students. I have been supporting students in their A Levels for over 15 years, with the last two years as a tutor since leaving teaching at Alleyn's school. This course is designed to support your child prepare in a timely and stress free fashion so they can reach their potential this summer and take their next steps to go to University or their other ventures. Is your child working hard to master all the Year 13 Physics material? You want them to feel prepared and confident for their summer exams—without the last-minute stress and panic that so often comes with exam season. They deserve to approach their A Levels feeling in control, knowing they've given themselves the best possible chance to succeed. Perhaps they're completing their homework and doing well in class, but simply haven't had the time to properly revise last year's material to the high standard needed for their exams. With the demands of Year 13, it's easy for those Year 12 topics to slip through the cracks—but they make up a significant portion of the final papers. I've designed a course specifically to help. During the mornings of the January half-term holiday, we'll work through focused sessions on each Year 12 topic, including the Paper 3 scientific skills. We'll tackle questions with exam technique in mind, structured around question types like "explain" or "calculate," so your child knows exactly what examiners are looking for. This course will leave them confident and on top of their revision, ready to excel in their mocks. To find out more, take a look through my brochure. With a maximum of 5 students online, each 2-hour morning session is interactive and problem-solving focused—the perfect way to start the day. All resources will be shared electronically, so everything they need is at their fingertips. I am also an examiner for AQA (as well as Edexcel) and tutor boards Edexcel, AQA and OCR(A). All the best for your child's revision, Kate www.Physicswithkate.com
  3. There is a new STEM Camp running at Dulwich College this summer. It's a very exciting venture based on running many different forms of STEM Camps over the last 15 years, from Robot Wars to making satellites in a coke can. This summer the three STEM projects include a range of skills and interests. Who: Children Leaving Y7 and Y8 Where: Dulwich College What time: 10am - 3pm Cost: £100 a day, and keep the STEM Project Mon 12th August 2024 Rocket Making With SpaceX sending up rockets to space and now on their fourth flight test for Starship, the rocket market is booming. Everyone can choose from a range of rocket fuels, H20 is a popular one in the summer, and design for two stage rocket after considering what is working well at the moment. Tuesday 13th August 2024 Air Quality Coding and making air quality sensors with micropython and raspberry picos and sensors. What is the air like around Dulwich College and if time, out into the village? What does the data even mean, the WHO will be able to help with this. Wednesday 14th August 2024 Automation Automation is taking over, and we'll code, solder and build a system to water plants, but only when they need it. This requires logic, DT skills, coding sensors with a raspberry pico. The booking form is live on the website. Let me know if you have any questions, All the best, Kate https://www.physicswithkate.com/stem-camps NB There is also an Art Camp running at the same time by my very accomplished artist friend, making pieces that will stand out in any portfolio or on the wall. https://www.physicswithkate.com/art-camp-1
