  3. Lou, i've signed the petition. i too have a shed where i paint and make glass, so know how important it is, and from what i've read , this all seems grossly unfair. i wish you good luck and hope it turns out ok for you, as you obviously are so passionate about this and the health benefits it gives you, surely this is the most important thing, esp at this horrible time we are in
  4. i heard on BBC radio london, that apparently you can offer your christmas trees to local city farms,( for a small donation for pickup) if they have goats, as they love eating them!! much better than just discarding on the street .. i nearly tripped over one that was sprawled across the pavement yesterday..abandoned xmas trees always look so sad
  5. gsweet87... can't believe you have said.. 'that the vast majority of people are at least polite enough to bag up their rubbish and put it by the bins' !! Polite enough???? I was brought up to never, ever drop rubbish, why is it someonelse's responsiblity to pick it up?? 'Polite' would be to take it home with you as you brought it in with you. Surely money that the councils have would be far better spent on dealing with other more urgent issues,, than picking up lazy people's rubbish!!! I am cross that our council tax money is used on this quite frankly . I don't want to see more and more uglier and bigger bins in green spaces.. spoiling them further.

I just don't get it..and am fed up about this mindset that it's ok to leave rubbish by a bin if it's full. Why can't it be taken home and disposed of there? People like this should be fined heavily or made to go and pick it all up. if only they can be caught..but then these type of people are ignorant, and just don't care, as long as they've had a good time..

I despair and i'm not going to come back on here to write again. .

  6. hi Rachp

well... in Dulwich Park not just by the bins either... glass bottles and rubbish in the middle of the grass, today i noticed a lot inc glass bottles and pizza boxes nowhere near a bin.. and more by the bins overflowing in Peckham Rye... so if i can help at all with your letter, and support to James McAsh, please let me know. i am happy to go out and document with photography.. I usually take photos of trees, and beautiful things..but happy to take pics of rubbish if it helps to support what we are seeing, now on a daily basis after hoards have enjoyed their picnic en plein air....

  7. why are people not taking their rubbish home with them ???.... it breaks my heart seeing all the discarded picnic leftovers scattered over our beautiful green spaces. We are fortunate to have these spaces, we are fortunate they have stayed open for us, and are being cared for by the council staff for our benefit. .. they have been especially beautiful this spring, with kind weather, and are so vital to our mental and physical wellbeing...but now, they look disgusting. WHY do these people think it is ok to do this?? They wouldn't be happy if their children, dogs or family stepped on broken glass, or had to sit amongst rubbish, would they??

SO WHY are selfish, uncaring, idiotic members of the public leaving their rubbish all over the place? They are managing well enough to carry in their picnics and bottled drinks ..so why can't they take the empty packaging, empty(and lighter) bottles, and rubbish home with them????

It is beyond me.. i tried to pick some up.. but didn't have gloves with me and it is just too scary to be doing this at the moment.

It is ignorant selfish people like this who will be the cause of the parks closing..

i have never ranted on here before.. but i am furious and deeply sad, at what i've seen this last week..and feel ashamed at how fellow residents of our area are behaving.

What can we do about this??
