Yes this. Some of them don't even tell you they're not working, just swallow your card make 'thinking' noises, and then spit your card out again with no cash.

Never been to a gig, but if I did I would do the same. Otherwise what's the point

  3. Banned from this weird army shop.

Customer was in front demanding a refund for something, and the cashier just wasn't having it - repeatedly pointing to some sign that was no more than a laminated scrap piece of paper that had "no refunds" on it.

So there I was waiting in line and minding my own business, when the guy suddenly turns on me and asks "here, would *you* notice that?" whilst pointing at the sign. Being the honest kid I used to be, I instinctively said "no" - immediately realising what a mistake I'd made when it was my turn to be served.

Cashier wasn't happy, he took my money and let me pay for my item but he told me I was no longer welcome.

I was heartbroken. I fricking loved that army shop :(

An hour in the car from any part of London to any other part of London is an outright lie.

It's probably quicker to drive to Manchester than it is to get around

It's not long, 20 mins, 3rd stop. Make sure to have all your gear ready when they announce the station, because for some reason it's announced late and you have something like 20 seconds before the doors open.

If you're heading to the snowdome, it's another 30 min walk.

Glad to be of service :D

It's weird I could never really get into his earlier stuff, it just seemed too abstract and uncoordinated. Then a friend introduced me to Canada's new national anthem (awaiting approval *cough*) and I sort of began to understand the layering. Am now working my way back through his early stuff

  7. I regret moving here.

At least in shoreditch you could get a decent meal and a blowjob all under a tenner. I mean it was full of white hipster thick-rimmed bearded-cyclist Gordon Freeman lookalike fluff who spent half their income on rent, but at least the area kept all the basic amenities cheap.

Here... it's the same crowd I guess but the area offers nothing but twatty charity shops, a single overpacked pub, a multitude of mostly empty indoor dining restaurants (and "takeaways!"), and a Saturday market that doesn't understand what a market actually is.

God bless the corner shops, the shitty chicken shop, and bless that hardware store guy who stocks everything and its mother at almost amazon prices. Love that guy, wish he'd return my calls .

No it's not. I had a look at their takeaway prices in the window -- it's ?9. Eat in is something like ?11 now.

They have a kids menu where the takeaway is ?6.50, but I'm a grown ass man and I want grown ass proportions

@Bob - I will! I'll take a bloody photo to assure you that I'm not paranoid, I'm right

No, I had a bad impression of the place based on price, but thought the food might be good so decided to check.

From what I've read here: you pay for the experience.

Great. If you want the experience, go for it.

Personally, I hate being forced to smile back at someone as they stitch me up.

It's false. I'm not your friend, I'm your effing customer and this is the first time we've met

(sorry for the siderant, this is a pet peeve of mine)

@Jeremy - I did find a cheap place yesterday 1 minute up the road from the station. Cant remember the name

  10. There's a cheap place (?4) just a bit north of the station. Fish is *pretty good*, the chips are a combination of moist and crispy(? Yeah? I kind of like it like that, but that's me...)

The guy will lie to you and tell you that he'll have your order in 5 mins, but you'll still be there 12 mins later.

Not bad though, 6/10 would recommend.

  11. ^ that sounds delish.

@Bob - yeah yeah har-de-har :P -- it's not really about the money, it's more about whether you're being duped into paying that extra ?1.50 because you're a sucker for a charming smile, rather than paying that extra ?1.50 for getting quality food.

Though from what I'm hearing it's an 'experience' thing, which could be genuinely good.

@Loz - What's the "pick your own" thing like? Is it actually a tank full of fresh fish, or are you picking off a menu?

@Jah - Yeah I know what I'm getting tonight. Just not from where...
