  1. I am not even sure that data collected by Council is trustworthy. From my personal most resent experience, walking down Croxted Road in the mornings of December 2023 and January 2024 (my exercise routine) , noticed that ATC appeared about a week leading to Christmas and was taken away second week of January, i.e it was in place during traffic quieter times due to the holiday season.

Ah, I though introduction of CPZ and previously ULEZ and LTN are all in the name of saving our environment. My mistake.

  3. to know the answer I think you need to measure the "opening" of your paper sack, if I remember correctly litres = volume, i.e. converts into cubic meters/centimeters.

  4. once stayed in a hotel in Essex (old Victorian building) which had secondary glazing windows done by selectaglaze (name was on the frames, hence I know the manufacturer). secondary glazing made quite a difference, as we had it in our room, but not in the hall, so was able to compare.

    I agree

  6. Hi Aecornr,

I know exactly what you mean, a lot of money and your peace of mind are at stake. I don't know exactly how long time ago they've opened this Dulwich branch, but it must have been after 2013. As our experience with Elwyns were a while ago, I have no idea how they would perform now. But Sue kindly found a link for you on check_a_trader.

    If I was you:

    - I would ask as many questions as possible (for example, if Elwyns is manufacturer, who are these local installers? who guarantees what? where is their fabrication/production is based etc.). I would check this company on the companies house website. http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk//wcframe?name=accessCompanyInfo

    - I would not ignore others advice and I will get SJB people over for a quote, I will ask them the same questions as I would ask Timber Windows. Even if you decide not to go with them at the end, it's always better to have more quotes than just one.

-I would probably ask companies who quoted for the job if I can contact some of their resent customers for a reference and, if yes, I will call these people ask to see the finished product from outside (I can understand people will not want some strangers to go inside).

You?ve been given a link to Elwyns website already by Sue. So I've googled Timber Windows in Wimbledon and they are also saying that they have showroom in Dulwich, so not sure who is who.

    https://www.timberwindows.com/showroom/london-dulwich/

  7. Hi Aecornr,

From your first post I had an impression that you've already had a quote from Timber Windows. If my understanding is correct, what's the name of the company who provided this quote to you? If it's Elwyns, this is what the name of Timber Windows company was and may be still is, which we used about 6-7 years ago and our experience with them was good. They installed both timber (casement) and upvc windows for us. At the time they had no showroom in Dulwich, only in Carshalton and Woldingham, we visited both at the time. I also recall we visited a Timber Windows showroom in Wimbledon, although I'm not sure that was Elwyns, although the timber windows they had on display were very very similar look and quality to the ones we saw in Carshalton and Woldingham. Good luck.

  8. We used ECS Air Conditioning Ltd, Bradley Kennedy 02087789661, we are very pleased, happy to recommend. Had 4 quotes to start with, chose this one, although was not the cheapest.

As a warning: one of the quotes we had, apart from being the most expensive, included unacceptable contract terms(e.g. non refundable upfront deposit with delivery or performance are only an estimate "time shall not be of the essence", delivery of the units to your place where it's your responsibility to check them, with risk of loss or damage are yours while they are still retain title to the units).
