  1. Our neighbour's garden is a bit of a jungle and their shrubs and bushes are overhanging the fence into our garden and threatening to take the fence down. We're looking for someone who's handy with a hedge trimmer to cut it back from our side and bag it up for collection. We reckon it's about two hours worth of work.

    Please PM me if you're interested and have a hedge trimmer.

    We're based in Brockley, SE4.

  3. We have just bought a house in Brockley and the garden needs a lot of work, including the:

    - dismantling and removal of three dilapidated wooden sheds and some rotten decking;

    - removal of a small pond and then levelling the ground;

    - cutting back and clearing of bushes and plants.

    If possible, I'm looking to get some quotes sorted this weekend as I need the work started in September.

    Does anyone have any recommendations? If so, please PM me.

  4. I'm priced out of East Dulwich and am looking to buy a house in Brockley (probably towards the New Cross side rather than Hilly Fields). I'm a bit anxious about moving to a new area as I really liked ED.

    There doesn't seem to be an online community forum for Brockley so I thought I'd try here for views and advice in case any Brockley dwellers are online.

    Does anyone live in Brockley? Does it have a similar community feel to ED? Does it have any major upsides or downsides as compared with ED? I have a small child so views on nurseries and schools would also be welcome, although I appreciate that it's difficult to anticipate future waiting lists and catchment areas.

    Can anyone recommend an architect and builder who is familiar with Lewisham Planning? A couple of the houses I'm looking at need modernising and have quite big gardens so a side return or extension would be an option.

  5. Hello! I'm thinking of moving to ED and am looking at a flat in Holmes Close, off Oakhurst Grove. It seems to be a really good location as it's close to the leisure centre and shops.

    Has anyone lived in this development? Is it relatively quiet? It looks fine to me but I know there are sometimes problems with developments with a low proportion of owner-occupiers and newer build flats tend to have poorer sound-proofing than conversions of Victorian terraced houses.

    Thanks in advance for any advice.
