Could this be because you are paying the nanny a flat fee per hour? Your 60/40 split suggests you are just working out the total weekly amount then splitting it, as opposed to it being hourly per family. That could be the reason why. If you pay half hourly rate while in the share so that each family pays equally, then pay a higher hourly rate when not in the share, it should be fine. So for eg, each family pays ?9ph while in the share, ?12ph when it's just you child. However, I'm not a financial expert!

This story almost identically matches what happened to friends of mine near the end of last year/beginning this year. They are in Deptford on the border of Brockley and Lewisham. Once he started work he kept telling them more and more had to be done and he became threatening when they said they didn't want him to do any more work. He then left without putting up new guttering, and refused to take down the scaffolding unless they paid him even more money. In the end they had the locks changed because they were so threatened by him and he had had access to their house. Awful!
